D&D 5E Possibly a bad idea, but what do you all think?

Awarding for taking damage is a bad idea imo.

If players solve an encounter without violence, they still get the XP for that encounter, though.

Individual XP rewards depend on player contribution and don't have very fixed rules.

Is it just me, or would that type of XP system just result in the most hilarious drawn out battles where the PCs try and milk the most damage out of their opponents as possible - quick heal the Orc I still have some Hp left!

Possibly, but they will be using a ton of resources to accomplish that. Just imagine throwing a single orc at the party and watching everyone but the Wizard and Rogue use all of their resources trying to farm that orc for XP. Were I the Wizard or rogue I would not let them rest after, since I am still fresh and ready to go. Then the fighter gets to run the rest of the day on half health, and the Cleric or pally has no healing. I hope that extra 40 XP was worth it...

More likely, it would result in the party spending a few months beating each other up, and not bothering to go on a quest until everyone is level 20.
