Power Rangers

Man, tommy was hard core. I rememeber the first time he busted out the flute/sword to control the dragon-zord, that was just awsome.

I remember being very bitter as a kid, because I could only watch power rangers on wednesdays, because it came on before school got out on all the other days (wednesdays we got out a bit early).

Wow... I need to get season one on DVD....

Umm... that was just a wild guess. Ever since they started making Buffy and Angel and Star Trek on DVD, I kinda assumed that every show I've ever watched is on DVD somewhere.

Sorry if I got your hopes up. But I'll go google it right now, just in case...

Disney/ABC owns power rangers right now, ever since they bought it from Sabban and Fox in the middle of Time Force. I doubt they'll put it on dvd anytime soon.

I watched the power rangers every day before going to school in 3rd and 4th grade, maybe even 5th if it still had the time slot. I then "quit" because the story became too rediculous for this 10 year old.

However, I caught an episode of the newest rendition before going to a comic-con in chicago. It was absolutely amazingly rediculous. Criggity crazy I think. The power rangers of old actually talked about things for 33% of the episode. They were normal people hanging out with a holographic head and a robot, or the fat and skinny thugs at the local juicebar. Now, they fight fight fight fight fight, go home for approximately 8 seconds of dialog, then continue fighting. I'm sorry, but that's more unwatchable than fighting foodons (the cartoon about food that fights food). At least that show is rediculous in a way that is comedic.

I wonder, was it Dino Thunder you saw? or an episode from another season. The newest rendition, Dino Thunder has only been on air for 2 weeks. Doug Sloan the original producer of Power Rangers is again in charge of the show, and Dino Thunder has a very MMPR feel to it.

The kids have a web cafe/juice bar type local. There is this popular female reporter and her dorky AV Guy who fit the Bulk and Skull shell.
Tommy Oliver (original green ranger) is back and mentoring them now from a cave beneath his house. Most of the episode is not spent fighting, but in fact on character interaction.

You have Connor playing Soccer, in the 3rd episode he went to try out of the local professional team and had to turn down being accepted due to his responsiblities as a ranger.

You have Kira with her singing, in fact i think episode 3 opened with her singing one of her songs (she has a really nice voice).

Ethan is the resident geek and it is he who introduces us to the "hangout" where he plays video games and eats and drinks.

You might like Dino Thunder, give it a chance.

I once did an IMDB search to see if any of the actors had a post-PR career...
Jonny Yong Bosch (don't remember what Ranger he was...) is doing VA work for anime series. Last I heard, he played Vash in Trigun.
