The trouble is, there are real 'h4ters' out there, who react to almost every announcement with vitriol and crap in virtually every thread. It is unfortunate that people with genuine issues occasionally get tarred with the same brush, but if you are getting drowned out it is in unremitting negativity, not in effusive praise.

And making accusations of 'belittling' and 'buzzword-speak' against though who think 4e might actually be OK don't make you look any less like a hater.

glass.

Ahh, so once again its all the fault of those with questions/dislike about 4e. No pro-4e poster attacks disenters or heaps positive feeling with no backing. Are you kidding me? Both sides are equally bad. Which side is worse only depends on which side you favor. It just happens this site is a little more pro-4e. Personally I was on the fence, but I wouldn't ask a question of any problem I saw in 4e on this site. Of course I wouldn't praise an idea on the 4e section of the paizo boards either. Both sides have their version of haters and the whole side is labelled that way. Which is a shame because it seems to derail a lot of conversations.

Im just happy DDXP happened so the forum has had some real data to talk about. Ill try the paizo rpg and get 4e. My group will stick with prpg I imagine since we tend to favor 3rd party settings over WOTC. When the GSL is made clear we'll see how many companies move over. The necromancer product plans seem strange to me, unless they already know what's allowed in the GSL.

While it is not a valid sample it is interesting to get such a high negative on what is often considered a pro-leaning board. If 25% of players really are not going to switch, then Piazo could be doing quite well with this decision.

That's an interesting point (hadn't considered it that way for some reason until you mentioned it :p), although I do have to wonder how many alts may have been used to cast votes. Then again, even if there were a Name-Check function (like I proposed earlier to discount multiple votes in a cross-forum poll), people using alts wouldn't necessarily chime any bells, so I don't know that using name checks would help all that much.

Different Option

I didn't want to plow through all of the replies, but I was disappointed that one additional option wasn't allowed on the poll. I'm neutral on 4th edition and want to take a wait and see attitude. I have pre-ordered the 4th edition rule books, and with the new Paizo announcement, have every intention of ordering the Pathfinder RPG. I have too much money invested in 3.5 to totally walk away from my existing investment, and welcome an option where I can continue playing with my existing 3.5 books and update some of the rules with newer concepts.

What I really intend to do is play 4.0 at Conventions and online, while continuing with 3.5/Pathfinder RPG in my home game. I don't intend on buying every rulebook and supplement that comes out for 4.0, but only the "core" books (whatever that might mean).

As someone who continues to come here, I think this is pretty accurate. The cries against the "haters" are often directed against people who have genuine issues, and those genuine issues are belittled until the person feels it's just not worth posting about the issues, because the real message is just going to get ignored in a flood of 4e buzzword-speak.

HATERS IN THE FORUM!!! GET THEM!!!!

lol!!

Seriously though, 3.5 is dead to me. Its 20 minutes of fun packed into four hours paradigm is obsolete. I'm finishing out a campaign right now, but ONLY because my wife is running it and she would be sad if I dropped out. I really don't enjoy it anymore. I'm tired of its rules holes, slow pace of combat (as in time between turns I get to act) and overly complicated rule set.

4E will be my salvation. . . or I will just stick to miniatures wargames from now on and drop D&D completely. Pretty sad after 25+ years of playing the game.

Looks like yet another poll where the pollster is absolutely determined that you must select one of two options or suffer. I blame the American electoral system, but that's another thread on another messageboard (in Britain, I vote for the third party, dammit!).

Personally I am committed to neither, I don't think I'm pro or anti 4E (I see it as "un-D&D", but cool nevertheless). I incline towards 4E slightly, because I really like healing surges, and I prefer going backwards to forwards, but depending on how much of 4E they nick for PF, I could be moved either way.

I voted for them as well when I lived in Blighty, and now I am back in NZ we have PR so (I am afraid) you can't blame the yanks! However I wanted a poll to give some answers, if you don't know or don't care or are going to play both then either don't vote (a poll doesn't have to be relevant to everyone) or vote the last option 'none of the above'. The main thing I was interested was how many 'pro-' and 'unsure' 4E-ers that PF RPG had gained, about 13 or 14% (and 21% def going to PR overall). Not bad and certainly viable for the company, as long as those guys stick with it!

I'm all for 4E and I'm going to stick with 4E. If they publish something I like, maybe. I wasn't buying their stuff before and I don't look to start now.

Very happily playing other systems, thank you.

No longer part of the D&D edition madness, though I will gleefully discuss Ars Magica edition madness anytime. ;)

Not enough options: I am planning to start up a 4E game when I get a chance, but if I play any more 3.5E it'll probably use Pathfinder (rules, setting, and adventures).

I'm not a fence-sitter. I'm just keeping my finger in the 3.5E pie.

You left out an important choice:

I am curious about 4E, and curious about Pathfinder, and haven't decided which one I will do, or whether I will just stay with my current 3.5E if both 4E and PF fail to impress me.
