I'd suggest looking at dread pirate (complete adventure). You might need to change the requirements. It is a nice combo with a bard.

Another option is to go with swordsage or crusader from Bo9S. Both work very well if you take them for 9th level (swordsage in particular) A bit too powerful IMO, but darn handy.

Book of 9 swords is one of the few that we don't have. Thanks anyway.

I'll look up the pirate. Depends how much sea-specific stuff is in, but can always be tweaked with DM approval.

I'll second this if you're doing a maritime campaign. Not only do you get fighter BAB, but you also get a very nifty charge ability allowing you to charge over obstacles and the like. In addition you get bonuses to sailing and the ability to give yourself and allies bonuses to attack and damage. As mentioned above, it's not only combat-oriented, but several abilities stack with bardic music.

If you spend a good amount of time aboard ship it's an excellent choice. Otherwise, I'd go with the earlier options. After all, not everyone owns a ship.

A friend of mine is looking for a prestige class for one of her characters. I've looked through the books and I can't find anything particuarly fitting. Suggestions welcome.

The char is a human Bard 2/Swashbuckler 5.
I don't know all stats, dex is about 17, int 14, wis 9, chr 16. She wields an elven thinblade. More interested in combat capabilities than bardic abilities.

Other than the Eberron books, I have access to pretty much everything. However, please mention anything good from Eberron, I may be able to borrow books

Can you find out what race she is and what feats she has taken so far? This would be very helpful in determining which Prcs she'll be able to qualify for.

I'll just throw my 2 cp out there and say that the Dread Pirate Prc from CAdv might fit this character's persona.

The Enchant Chosen Weapon ability is fairly potent. Over 10 levels, that plus BAB will net you a +9 to hit and +4 damage.

Fine. But another class will net you +10/+5 to hit and you can still add a magical weapon.

I'm not saying it is clearly better - but it isn't bad... and you can still add a magical weapon.

We're not, in fact as little as possible due to recent campaign events but may still be worth checking out.

As I mentioned, human. Feats, not sure for all. Exotic proficiency thinblade. Dodge. I think weapon focus. Will ask.
