Prestige Class

Does anyone know a good prestige class I could try to get for a barbarian with a curse by the name of "Mark of Avernus." Well Im still level one and the curse, has DR of 5/+1 Fire resistance of 5, and this is the bad part of the curse, I can only be healed by Magic, like I cant regain my hp by sleeping it out, so that means unless a cleric or I get a potion and I heal myself I will keep the same hp, another one is that once I get down to 0 HP I'am dead. And the curse makes me have a bunch of tatoos along my arm and chest with 101 devils forming new names constantly. And if you were wondering how I got such a thing when Im only level one, I was playing with a group of higher level guys so the monsters were higher level and the prizes too. And I got it because I was the one that killed like the final boss type of guy that had this curse.....Ok now back to what I was asking does anyone know of a good prestige class I could try to save up for, even though I know that there arent a lot of good barbarian prestige classes

The way I see it is that you have two options:

1) Make yourself impossible to hit. Find everything you can to bump your AC up to outrageous levels.

2) Obtain a method of supernatural healing. As in a prestige class or feat that offers fast healing or regeneration.

The only barbarian prestige class I can think of that might offer some of this is the Forsaker. I have not seen one in play, but I know it is widely criticized on the boards. It grants fast healing, increased damage reduction, and spell resistance.

Dragon 302 has a Tainted Warrior class that really seems up your alley, but your DM should really check it out first. Seems like a perfect fit, though..

I like Frenzied Berserker (MotW) for pure Rage effects, but keep in mind that it's got some steep entry requirements.

Hospitaler (DotF) just about has it all, but the feat requirements don't match well with Barbarians in general. On the other hand, a focused Barbarian cen get there by 4th level, gaining spellcasting and Lay On Hands. Hit Points go down, but BAB stays the same.

Divine Champion (FRCS) is available to you at level 3+. It requires you to have a patron diety, but you get Lay on Hands (which is very useful for someone with your unique malady). Pretty much a fighter/paladin class. I'd look into it.

Forsaker is right out (unless your DM rules that Forsaker healing bypasses your curse).

Holy Liberator (from DotF) is similar to the Divine Champion, but gets slightly better spells. Charisma is a real factor, though.

What exactly do you mean by fast healing starman??

But ill try to look at some of those classes wormwood said.

Do you know about anyway I can find out about those classes (Besides buying the books)

Hmmm, I was thinking that Fast Healing was a supernatural ability, but it is listed as extraordinary. The description in the MM says it is exactly like natural healing except for the accelerated rate, so I think you're right, Wormwood, and that it wouldn't work.

I don't know what else to suggest.

If you are really worried about healing, I would multi-class with cleric if you have a wisdom of 11 or higher (pick up 1 level of cleric). That way you could cast 1+ spells a day to heal yourself.

For Domains, I highly recommend Luck and Travel (i.e. Farhlangan), which works great for a Barbarian. Luck lets you re-roll one dice a day, and Travel lets you ignore hold person for one round a day (also expeditious retreat as a domain spell, doubling charge movement).

Otherwise, if your wisdom isn't 11+, I'd just stick with Barbarian. Barbarian is a fine class under 3E and it gets even better under 3.5. Barbarians get more hit points than any other class (and rage increases hp even further), so that should solve some of your problems.

I wouldn't worry about PRCs. Since you are 1st level, you probably want immediate healing (i.e. healing at 2nd level instead of healing at 8th level).
