Pricing Metal

Is there anywhere that lists the price (per weight unit) of metals in 3E? I'm looking specially for the prices of steel and mithril. I know the cost of a mithril item lists a +500
gp cost. But I figure that's just added labor for the difficulty of working mithril. I'd like to
know what the metal itself costs. Anyone know where I should look?

Doesn't it say something akin to for noweapon-equipment the prize equals 500gp time the weight of the item? If it says so, the actual prize for the pure metal would be 250gp (according to the Craft-Skill-rules)

Mithral 500 gp per pound
Platinum 500 gp per pound
Gold 50 gp per pound
Silver 5 gp per pound
Copper 5 sp per pound
Iron 1 sp per pound

Thank you. But it seems that 3E has confused iron with steel. They are two very different things. You don't make weapons out of iron, you make them out of steel. And the tech level is high enough that a smith shouldn't have to make his own steel out of iron. And 500 a pound for mithril seems a bit steep to me. I'll have to rethink that.

What steel is and what iron is depends on who, and in particular when you ask.
Prior to the 19th c., and in all but technical manuals, the two are fully interchangeable.
