(Proposal) Learner Prestige Class

I thought so too at first read through, but the spell level=learner level-1 is not the way to go, IMHO. It does simplify it, but then resistance and dispel wise the 10th level learner gets 15+ level 9 spells/day. Relative power level wise they are not which is why we went with the list in the first place.

Maybe I'm missing something - but isn't that pretty much the sort of thing you wanted to avoid with the new version?

Yes, it is... but my main problem with the spell level thing was that, back then, learners were going to be casting them as spells of that level using spell slots. Now that we've adopted this new system, I don't see nearly as much of a problem with it, as it can be a rough estimate of level instead of actual (because it's just for purposes of dispel and whatnot, we don't have to be as cautious figuring out the spell level - it still has to be accurate to some degree, but not nearly as exact as it would have had to have been before).

Just to throw the idea out, maybe the formula simply needs to change? Half learner level, minimum 1, perhaps? Makes it a bit more similar to bards, who get up to 6th level spells normally.

Half learner level (minimum of 1) is more resonable, and with the current system you could just heighten using multiple talents to get it up to effective lvl 9.

True that would be easier. I personally like that the talent's power is based somewhat off of what the equivalent spell rather than the personal power of the learner, as that is the paradigm that spells, powers, and sunpernatural abilities are based off of. As the list might a little unweildy. We could go with something based off of the creature then? CR perhaps. Given that we can be a little less accurate as you pointed out, GW.

I would be amenable to this solution. It would mean that the talents max out at 5th level, which is too high to be affected by globes, but up until 10th they could be. They can be heightened (using the metamagic-using-talent-slot rule), but it would take some effort rather than being automatically 9th.

I could also just remove the metamagic-using-talent-slot rule, which would remove that problem altogether. I personally don't mind either way. :)

Done. I'll edit it shortly. :)

Are we to the point that this can get approval/disapproval votes, or are there still some concerns floating around?

From my point of view it is, we'd have to get some more judges in here to compliment KO.

I gotta get me a bard so I can move towards the learner. Glad I still have 1 more chara to bring into the inn.
