Smart move... Now they need for game ports built in and it’s about freaking about time too! Also a HD is a must as my Xbox has convinced that that is the way to go, but they still need the cards for backup options.

THREE years. Three. ;)

And, no, in terms of time, the PS3 release is on schedule for a typical console successor, which generally occurs every 4 to 6 years depending upon the popularity of the console and the climate of the market.

U.S. Release Dates:
  • Sega Master System (1985), Sega Genesis (1989), Sega Saturn (1995), Sega Dreamcast (1999)
  • NES (1985), Super Nintendo (1991), Nintendo 64 (1996), Nintendo Gamecube (2001)
  • Sony PlayStation (1995), Sony PlayStation 2 (2000)

Sony will all be launching the PS3 in 2005, allegedly. In an effort to become more competitive, Microsoft and Nintendo will also be releasing new hardware around the same time to ensure Sony doesn't get a 1 year head start again in the upcoming generation.

2005? Oh. I took it as it was coming out this Christmas or something.
