[Psi] Psionics and schools

Which psionic powers are considered to be from which school? I.e., Animal Affinity is like Bull's Strength, so one assumes it isfrom the Transmutation school. Maybe.

Is there a simple rule or does each power have to be figured out on a case-by-case basis?

(I ask because we're assaulting a castle which has a sort of selective anti-magic shell that stops transmutation.)

Any Metacreative or Psychokinetic power which turns one material into another - eg Fabricate, Matter Rearrangement

Any Psychometabolic power (even Displacement could be treated as one, since it transmutes the properties of light). Body Adjustment is not Conjuration (Healing) - it doesn't draw on special energy to heal you, instead it transmutes your body to heal faster.

Any power which has Control in its name (except maybe Control Body), eg Control Light, Control Object, Control Shadow, etc

Darkvision, a Clairsentient power, could also count
My Light - is that Evocation or Transmutation

If you have access to If Thoughts Could Kill, they have detailed rules. Hope this helps.

Can you give me a page number, plaease? Can't find it it Itck.

BTW, are there hard rules how to classify spell-like abilities that aren't a direct equivalent to a spell (besides common sense).

To the problem at hand: Are you playing with psionics-magic transparency rules (so psionics and magic are essentially the same, and dispel magic will dispel psionics, too, and so on)?
If not, we had your problem solved: psionics are no spells (no magic at all) and don't belong to any school.

If you do, everything that "changes the properties of some creature, thing, or condition" is a transmutation (as per the PH definition of transmutation). Animal affinity would be in, no question

Unfortunately, given the D&D rules - and the Psi HB as published by WotC; there is no single standard.

In general - to belong in the school of transmutation - you must CHANGE an already existing property of the world or an object around you.

Haste and time "change" the flow of time around you - and IIRC are Transmutation spells for that reason.
