Psionics as the Same or Psionics as different??

Our campaigns have used psionics treated the same as magic. This makes integrating psionics into an existing campaign very easy.

I don't like to bring "psionics" or something into a fantasy game. It simply never seems to be "right" or "cool".
If I have to use it in my D&D campaign, say a player beg me to use the rule, I will definitely make it "same" as magic. I have no will to give some significant advantage to those silly psions.

I personally haven't used any psionics in any of my characters. A friend of mine has had to dump a character because they changed the psionic stuff and the new rules wouldn't support her character concept as she'd had it.
