Psionics Handbook

I'd probably agree here. But again, I think of Jean Grey flying around and figure, "Oh well."
I think that's my main problem with 3e psionics. I don't mind crystals, since they were always involved in some manner, but now it seems psionics is all about mutant powers and such.
But hey, the "psionicist" I'm looking for is in there, so I'll make do.

I'm always surprised that people who have issues with psi/magic transperency don't seem to have problems with divine/arcane transparency.

I was just expecting this comment :)

As a matter of fact, I have also always found the distinction between arcane and divine quite artificial.

My game world is covered with an invisible magical weave; it looks like a huge spiderweb or net, and it's made up of multicolored strands of shifting energy. A detect magic spell can show which strands are drawn into a magical object. Wizards affect the weave with their spell incantations, clerics with their prayers, but psions are the only ones who can reach out and directly affect the weave with their minds. Their mental energy thrums on its strands, twisting them into a desired effect.

That's how I've explained it; different methods, but same sort of effects.

I do think that the psion is too similar to the sorc, and there needs to be some big things making them different......I think the XPH is helping that in a lot of ways (Concentration to hide manifestations, the idea of a medatative focus, no 'crystal familiar').

The Psi-Crystal seems to still exist.

See the feat list... Kinda neat feat there that lets your Crystal hold Psi-Focus for you at least.
