Ptolus: The World of Praemal - Who has it?

I was a little surprised at the recommended level as it sounds like a huge deal in the book but we'll see how it plays out.
Now that you mention it, Banewarrens felt a bit like that to me.

This mega-adventure takes characters from 6th to 10th level.
Here's my biggest concern with this adventure:
[sblock]But for an "end of the world" type adventure, my players always wondered why the inverted pyramid would want to send 6th level PCs to do the job that they should be sending 12th level PCs and get it done right. I couldn't even really justify it. One player asked why they were being sent if it was SO important to Jevvica Knorr (spelling?) the elven mage from the Inverted Pyramid.

The main reason why Banewarrens and now The Night of Dissolution are the levels they are, is because the majority of D&D games top off at 10th level.

Much better odds of the adventures being played. They get played and people will look at Malhavoc Press. It's all a marketing strategy.

I read that. I'm missing where it says this ends the planar isolation. A little help here?
The
Galchutt getting freed from Praemal
=
the prison walls have been knocked down
.

And, as seen in the campaign journal, it's not necessarily the end of the world when it occurs, it's just the end of the way things were. Honestly, I think the period right after
the Night of Dissolution
has some amazing RP possibilities, especially for characters that are part of the larger society of mages in the game. My player characters include students from two different wizards' schools, and they'll definitely be swept into the chaos that occurs after the
night
ends.

I know that. Sheesh, what do you take me for, Joe? ;)

What I was getting at is the implication that WD made that NoD ends the planar isolation. And looking at the blurbs for it again, I'm not seeing that implication anywhere.

Unless WD was instead suggesting that it's the only Ptolus product that will rely on this fact. If the above is not true, I somehow am dubious about that.

My thoughts were that since the chaos beasties were trapped until the Night of Disolloution makes the moon come out, that if they succeed and destroy that hidden moon, that they'll be free. Don't know if we're to assume that's the default thing happening.

Could you guys use the "spoiler" codes when posting about background like this? That may avoid a lot of well, spoilers for many players out there.

Thank you guys. :)

Found this old thread while looking up stuff while reading The World of Praemal in which Monte replies:[sblock]Adventure Levels

SPOILERS AHEAD! PLAYERS BACK OFF!

Yeah, I see how you could make that assumption. In reality, I could have called that entire campaign "the Night of Dissolution." It was a recurring theme, and a term the PCs first heard when they were probably about 2nd level.

What the published "Night of Dissolution" will involve is a campaign arc against the chaos cults and the growing evil below the city.

If you read through the old campaign journal closely, you'll see that the "Night of Dissolution" actually almost happened a couple of times, not just the final confrontation the PCs had involving the Elder Gods, the Vallis Moon, etc.when they were all 17th level.

The climax of the campaign arc will be (hopefully) stopping the evil Shigmaa Wuntad from using Galchutt blood and awakening the lords of chaos, which will be a really tough and exciting challenge for 9th level characters. On the way there will be cultists, Forsaken, undead, demons, chaositech, rhodintor, and all kinds of fun.[/sblock]
Peace and smiles :)

So, is Monte's Chaositech supplement sort of a required/helpful supplement for Ptolus? I thought about picking up the .pdf, but if the core book rehashes it enough i won't bother. I like the idea of it regardless.

You will need it. But never fear, the PDF will be on a CD-Rom that comes with the book. Banewarrens too.

Peace and smiles :)
