Pushing Daisies - anybody watch?

It's a very interesting, quirky show, caters to my dark sense of humor.

I hope the series will continue. I'd hate to see the network shut the Pie Hole down.

Personally I thought- "wow now there is an hour I will never get back."

The wife wanted to see it, so.... as the show ended I touched her shoulder (she had fallen asleep)- "the torture is over," to which she yawned, stretched and said- "that bad?" "Worse, knowing the world it will go on to haunt a good time slot for years to come." She gave a slight nod- "okay- off the list."

Could you all explain why it was good in your minds? I am serious, I have no idea why anyone would like that.

Like I said, I have a dark sense of humor.

And the fact that he uses his power to bring back the dead to life for one minute to solve their murders and collect the rewards to keep his Pie Hole running.

And the fact that he used his power to bring his one and only first love to life but couldn't solve her murder and since a full minute have lapsed, a goombah funeral director died in her place. It happened before, when his mother died of an aneurysm but brought her to life only to have Charlotte's ("Chuck") single father died in her place.

And they have this kind of rekindling romance yet they could never touch each other otherwise she returns to her dead state, like what happened to his mother.

And there's Kristin Chenowith and Chi McBride.

Oh, I forgot to mention. The narrator's voice reminds me of my Harry Potter DVD.

Harmon, do you guys like Tim Burton stuff, especially things like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Nightmare Before Christmas? Because that's the vibe here I'm really digging.

Plus the Wonderfalls vibe, a sense of... well, wonder.

And the color palette keeps my eyes riveted.

Cute + mortality + massive quirkiness = awesome, at least the way this show is done.

Awesome show. I fear it's too "quirky" for network television, though. I think that it'll get dropped far sooner than it would have if it were on Showtime or HBO. Which is unfortunate, because while the fiance wasn't as impressed as I was, it's definitely going on the DVR to be watched as soon as it's recorded, if not sooner.

What I like about it is its sureal nature. Unlike other shows out there right now that are being all grim and gritty and real this one disposes with our reality and tells a tale in its own world. I like the fact that it isn't trying to be LA or NY or Seattle, it is its own quirky place with its own quirky people. It is also lighthearted with a streak of dark humor. Right now I am sick of the everything must be dark and humorless like BSG, BW, and Journeyman. I find the world too dark and humorless right now and I want my escapism of TV to take me away from this.

To give a comparison is hard because I can't think of a good one, but to give a reference of shows that I liked that feel similar I would have to go with Northern Exposure and Picket Fences.

I found I just really liked the fact that it was different from most other TV fare these days. For the most part I end up looking at a lot of the new shows and think - oh, another crime drama, another weepy soap opera hidden in a medical drama etc. This show is willing to be different. In the end I fear that this will spell the demise of the show (Brogarn may have hit it right on - Perfect for HBO/Showtime, but may not be able to catch the ratings needed for network television).

It was a very different hour of television. There was no forced backstory. I especially liked the intro. "he just has these powers". It wasn't trying to pull on my recollection of previous events (not saying i dont like it, i just hate that every show is trying to be heroes or lost).

The tongue and cheek humor was funny. The protaganist is not typical, he's not a nerd with super powers or a hunk no it all lawyer. He's just a guy who owns a pie hole.

Because of how much I like this show, I know that it is doomed to be cancelled soon. :(

Don't worry, it got both great critical reviews, and great ratings. It's not confirmed as a hit yet of course, because it was just the pilot. Next week will tell the tale. But the signs look good that this one will last.

I thought it was great!
