Pushing Daisies - anybody watch?

I loved it. Wait, no... I loved it I loved it I loved it I loved it!

That's better.

Best show since nBSG. The premiere episode was probably the best short film I've ever seen, which is a little problematic given that it's a major network television program... I doubt the creative team can keep it up. The difficultly maintaining the of poise required to make highly stylized whimsy about mortality and heartache work is staggering (not to mention the kind of money required to produce those sweet hyperreal storybook visuals), but I'm along for the ride as long as it lasts.

I really REALLY enjoyed it, it felt "fresh" and some scenes just had me laughing out loud (which i rarely do when watching a series about death and moral issues, etc).

But, having said that, I don't know if i would be into an entire series like this. the "not being able to touch his girlfriend" thing would eventually bother me (I would feel too frustrated and sad seeing him not be able to touch her when he obviously loves her -- yes, i'm a sap). And, also, once the freshness wears off, I don't know if I'll still like it _as much_.

But, yeah, so far, I really really did enjoy the pilot!

cute, sweet, fresh, and stays crunchy in milk!

Update/clarify - the wife sat down and watched the show, and thought it was cute, I asked if she thought it was funny and she shrugged a sort of kinda answer. "I really hope that it goes quickly, because it's formula is going to run out quick," to which I replied "nah, its one of those shows that will go on for years, just cause I think its lame."

Harmon, do you guys like Tim Burton stuff, especially things like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Nightmare Before Christmas? Because that's the vibe here I'm really digging.

Not so much. I always thought those movies were in the comedy section cause they were Burton movies and no one could stomach them. I guess that's the problem, I do not like that sort of humor.

Well you all like it, so.... Good luck to it.

Like I said, I have a dark sense of humor.

And the fact that he uses his power to bring back the dead to life for one minute to solve their murders and collect the rewards to keep his Pie Hole running.

snip-snip-snip

Oh, I forgot to mention. The narrator's voice reminds me of my Harry Potter DVD.

I have a dark sense of humor too, but this show failed to awaken it from it's light snooze. Dead Like Me (from the same producer) was much better for that, IMO.

The narrator of the show is Jim Dale, who does the Harry Potter books-on-tape.

You know, had you thought that Firefly was lame, it would still be on. It's your fault.

:p

<look of stunned disbelief> I could have saved Firefly by hating it.... ? :( <totally depressed now> Your right, could have. :(

You think if I started hating it for pretend I could save it now? :\ Cause I would if it would work.

I watched it online last night, and I was really disappointed. I felt it tried so hard to be quirky and surreal that it forgot to be interesting. It does have potential, so I might watch one or two more episodes.

Kristin Chenoweth is known for her Broadway stuff, so I'm not surprised. I like the show a lot. I think whimsical is the perfect word to describe it, and while I still have doubts about its lasting appeal, it has so many great things going for it that I just don't care about that.
