putting new life into the 'good' cleric. or being a goody two-shoes can be fun.

i actually prefered playing the cleric, especially a druid. it was fun.
i also know most people hate playing the 'battle medic'. but put two maces in that character's hand or clubs and whoops they can do just as much damage as a sword. i mean, a bashed head is still a bashed head and you're just as dead as if you had been beheaded or skewered.

good clerics are supposed to do good correct? or at least represent the forces of good with both words and deeds, just as much as a paladin is supposed to. And i don't mean you have to bash you're fellow pc's over the head with a mace and say 'CONVERT!'. it can be more subtle.

for example. say one of your pc's is behaving outside their 'good' alignment and are generally being naughty. as a cleric of good, you are fairly respsonsible for seeing that your good aligned friend doesn't slip into evil.

in this scenario, just cast a few forget spells at appropriate moments and watch the npc's get irritated with the character who is trying to be naughty. what that spell does is makes you forget anywhere from 5-10 minutes of your past. usually, this does the trick of chastising the character in question. especially if you're sneaky about it.

I dunno... I have never seen any lack of roleplaying possibilities with clerics. Just read the dogma entries where they exist and tell me that such clerics would just be about whacking you over the head and saying convert.

lol

but any reasonably intelligent cleric would kno that that kind of shenanigans would quickly scare away any potiental converts. ever heard of better the apple then the stick? instead of heck-fire and brimstone, i would simply put words to actions. if my character's diety was concerned with childbirth and healing, i'd be at the local clinic, helping with childbirth and healing.
if my cleric was a war-god fighting evil, i'd hook up with the nearest party and give what-for to the local nasties. and at the same time, if somebody asked about my religion or beliefs i'd explain it to them. i wouldn't be ramming it down their throats. because again, better the apple than the stick. or in this case, the mace. altho... the appropriately placed tap on the head can do wonders if your fellows are worshipping the same god and not following dogma.
