quality standards compliance decisions

Actually jaerdaph I DO spellcheck my stuff. I run it through the Spelling/Gramar checker on my copy of Word.

And therein lies the rub. After ten years of adding to the definitions database for proper names and technical terms, the damn thing doesn't catch but about 1 in 4 errors.

Thats why I rely on an editor for my products pre-distribution. Unfortunately, he is only human, and fails to catch many errors (especially if they are repeated thanks to the spellchecker).

In the end it comes down to two things. I type about 250 WPM when I get going, and often mis-stroke at that rate. I do not have a secondary editor like many companies, and therefor have nobody edditing for errors form the previous edditor!

Of course even barring all of this, that is no gaurantee of a flawless document. EVERYBODY makes mix-ups, and things ALWAYS get through.

There are no exceptions, IME.

I believe the original point to this thread was which publishers were sticking with the d20 license or using the OGL.

We are sticking with the d20 license as WOTC has always worked in favor of the publishers and I see no motivation for them to not continue to do otherwise. Besides, our products have not violated anything that I can see with this new version.

That said, we are ALSO doing some OGL based stuff but it has NOTHING to do with the license changes. Our upcoming Fall of Man will be an OGL book but it is becuase we added so much new material it was not a far stretch to put in character gen and make it a stand alone game.
As luck would have it, this game would have probably violated the new d20 license on a few points such as religion, etc.
Our first OGL book was Siege on Ebonring Keep for AU since AU is OGL.

I'm very curious to see how Mongoose handles these developments.

I don't envy any of the d20/OGL companies who have to make a decision on whether to include the d20 STL - even if their current material seems to meet the new requirements.

I would think it great if all the old mongoose books had little "bikini top" stickers in them on the artwork. It would be too amusing :)
The "magic marker" method could also work, but would not be as funny...

As far as previous experience and predictions goes, we'll leave your little about-face derrogatory "evidently you can" remark out of this. What YOU have experienced with WotC/Hasbro is different that what I have experienced. My expereinces cause me to place allot of trust in the company. I trust them to act in a dispicable and underhanded manner whenever they can get away with it. Of course that is my OPINION.
Are you talking about your psionics supplement where they got on you for using non-open material? If I recall and understand correctly (which I may not, admittedly), I thought that they told you what needed to be fixed so you would be compliant, which you did. I gotta say, that doesn't sound too despicable OR underhanded to me. Did I miss something?

Well, it would work if they had the same adhesive the stickers on the front of the BoVD used. :)
