That might be so and for Conan this is true but for a normal D&D game I wouldn't allow it as a martial weapon, unless I would increase the base damage of all other weapons as well.

This is very true!

To name just one: The war sword: All other stats as a normal longsword; only 200 gp for 1d10 damage

I prefer the War Rake. It lets you escape from entangle by straightening out the plants.
