Question for DM's: Favorite Homebrewed Villain?

Here's another icky one:

I can't even remember what supplement I got this from....but it was years ago.

There was a creature called a Blood Pudding that was a pseudo-failed attempt at becoming a lich.

Basically, you have your high level evil guy who wants to cross the line into lichhood. He thinks he has the correct ritual, but unbeknownst to him, he's off by just a liiiittle bit.

As a result, he transforms himself into a gelatinous puddle of scarlet goo.

Luckily this is not the end of the line for him. He finds that he can take over like-minded hosts (the closer the alignment to his, the easier it is to possess) by parasitically invading their bodies.

He's not as powerful as a lich, but he's up there.

I ran it with a necromancer named Vurmulaag who kept popping around from body to body...it took about 3 battles for the PC's to realize that the reddish goo oozing from the body wasn't just blood, then a couple more battles for them to destroy the actual Blood Pudding.

In the process he took over a couple of their allies, one PC's mother, a small child, and at the end, in an act of desperation, a horse.

I'm currently using a female LE mage who had to travel to Baator to deliver some magical weapons. After seeing how nice the place is (not much), and how well the petitioners are treated (not much), she decided that it wasn't going to happen to her, and traveled to Mount Celestia to seek forgivance for her sins.

Stolen!
