D&D 5E Questions on how to build a Mystic

I am trying to build a Mystic for a Roll20 game.

I am not sure how the Disciplines work.

At level 1 I get 1 Discipline power, and I also get 2 Bonus Discipline Powers for my Mystic Order.

I chose Order of the Awakened.

My question is, can I only choose Disciplines from that order, or can I choose them from outside of that order as well?

I noticed at level 20 I can have 8 Disciplines, plus the 2 Disciplines I got as a bonus, for a total of 10 Disciplines.

But, the Discipline powers under the Awakened list is only 9 powers. So I assume I can take powers from other Disciplines, right?

From my reading, it is only the 2 bonus disciplines from your subclass that have to be from your order. The disciplines you gain from levelling up can be used to gain any discipline you would like.

As cbwjm said, only the two bonus disciplines are restricted by your order, the rest can come from any source. Allows for a lot of flexibility of builds.

To echo what was said before, they removed the restriction after the 1st play test I think. In reality, you choose your order based off of the level abilities you want, the disciplines and talents don't matter too much because you can choose to only have the 2 bonus disciplines from your order if you want.

It's really just like they did with the wizard, and got rid of barred schools, because that really didn't make sense.
