questions on special attacks

DemonAtheist

First Post
i was dueling against my friends monk for fun, and we realized that were really confused about the special attacks

can a trip or a disarm be part of a spring attack?

can a trip or disarm be part of a flurry of (unarmed) blows?

can you flurry while grappling?

is precise strike damage multiplied with a critical?

does precise strike damage apply to thrown daggers?

i think thats it

thanks

Yes

There was a major debate on this a few weeks back, you can try searching for the thread if you like. The consensus was: no. The answer hinged on the fact that the flury of blows ability specifies an unarmed attack or an attack with a monk weapon and Weapon Focus [unarmed] is specifically called out as different from Weapon Focus [grapple], ergo a grapple is not an unarmed attack and it follows that neither would a trip or disarm (even if made barehanded). I personally do not like that and am house rulling it away.

No, just like Sneak Attack damage.

does precise strike damage apply to thrown daggers?
If the target is within 30', just like Sneak Attack damage

Unarmed strike or monk weapon.

Grappling is an unarmed attack, but it is not an unarmed strike. Disarming is performed with an unarmed strike, so that's fine. Tripping is not performed with an unarmed strike either, but tripping with a kama is using a special monk weapon and therefore arguably legal in a flurry.
