Not only that, but the only way you can use it to detect an invisible creature is if that creature stays in the same square for at least three turns. The first rounds alerts the user to the presence of magical auras, the second tells them how many and what strength, and it isn't until the third round that the location is indicated. If it moves to a different square at any point, the process has to be started over.

That's the only way you can pinpoint an invisible creature. He's talking about a "Ping!" that means "The sixty feet in front of you differs from the last five hundred feet you passed through, so pay attention", and you'll get that in the first round.

Assuming all the other PCs stay out of your arc, of course.
