Quick Planescape: Torment Question

I'm playing through Planescape: Torment one last time to try to get everything in the game. Anyway, something seems to be wrong...

I made it through the Starved Dogs Barking house, but that lady didn't show up in the Alley of Lingering Sighs. I got the key, I did everything I needed to do. I remember that she showed up the first time through, so what gives?

Possible reason #1: Just before Annah got out (I sent her alone into the room in Stealth Mode to get out the door) I heard the Battle Music. Could it be that the AI registering our presence caused the mission to fail?

Possible reason #2: I installed the patch, but when I check Properties then Version, it still says 1.0.0.1. Could my patch be corrupt or something?

It's been a while since I played the game, but maybe I can help.

I'm fairly sure it doesn't really matter how you exit the Starved Dogs place. My Nameless pure fighter (stayed that way until right before Ravel for HP purposes) pretty much wiped the place out and still got through.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say "lady". I remember a dabus wandering the area that you needed to deceive, and that "point of no return" at the end of the alley, but that's all. I vaguely recall that a couple of "gadget" items were needed to pass the area.

I recall nothing about the patch. I doubt you corrupted the game, but the patch may not be applied properly. It might need to be manually unzipped into the place you installed Torment... it may not be like most newer games that autodetect your install directory.

Are you talking about the theif right outside the thug's little hangout door? I don't think it really matters whether or not you talk to her when you get out. She doesn't give you much of anything, IIRC. What you need to do now is go out the other gate and talk to the wall.
