Quick Sheathe Feat

Well, my ranger 6/rogue 7/fighter 2 loves his Quickdraw feat. Two weapon fighting, plus a sword of dancing, plus Quickdraw, plus the two-weapon fighting feats, equals seven attacks the first round I'm within a 5' step of the enemy. A lot of other fighter types are still drawing weapons and the like. Quickdraw/Quicksheath would also be great for firing a flurry of arrows and yet still being ready to take AoOs with your best melee weapon each round.

Don't underestimate the ability to put your stuff away as a free action; it means you pretty much always have your best weapon ready.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you couldn't use quick sheathe/quick draw to put up a bow and pull a melee weapon for an AoO due to the fact that you cannot take a free action in someone elses turn.

Right, but you do it on your turn.

For instance:

Quickdraw bow, full attack, quicksheath bow, quickdraw two melee weapons.

Now I threaten anyone who provokes me. ;)

I could use a Quicksheath feat just about every time I play my rng/rog/ftr. But there are so many other things on the list too... I don't think I can resist Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting (drop my -4 to a -2!), for instance....

If I allowed a quick sheathe with the Quick Draw feat alone, I would say you can only draw or sheathe the same weapon once in a given turn.

But I personally think Quick Draw is an excellent feat for any two-weapon fighter, dang near mandatory in my experience. Adding quick sheath to the mix makes Quick Draw even better for them.

But for the average sword and board guy, maybe not so much.

hmmm as I still see both feats as underpowered (although sometimes necessary) maybe an expansion to quickdraw. "A character with a +3 or higher BAB may also sheath a weapon as a free action as part of movement."
And then make Quicksheathe into:
"Improved Quick Draw (General)
You can pick up or sheath a weapon in the blink of an eye.
Prerequisites: Base attack +3, Quick Draw
Benefit: You can pick up items as a free action. You can also sheath a weapon as a free action. Doing so does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Normal: Without this feat you may pick up an item as a move action that provokes attacks of opportunity. Without this feat you can sheathe a weapon as a move action that provokes attacks of opportunity, or (if your base attack bonus is +1 or higher and you have Quick Draw) as a free action as part of movement.
Special: A fighter may select Quick Draw as one of his fighter bonus feats."

Don't forget that the DM can give feats besides the 1-feat/3-levels that PC's get. Working the quick-sheathe feat into a campaign could be difficult, but if the party (or one member thereof) studied under someone who excelled at sheathing, it could be done. Maybe it would coincide with the quick-draw feat. And since I'm starting to ramble anyway, perhaps the party could study under a master of [insert randomly generated name of a sword-based martial art similar to iaido/iaijutsu here], and then roll a d4 for each character studying: 1: No tangible benefits gained, 2: Quick-draw, 3: Quick-sheathe, 4: Quick-draw and quick-sheathe. Something like this could introduce the feat without costing any of the players' feat selections.

Consider:

Quick Draw [General]
You can whip it out instantly.
Benefit: Drawing a weapon is a free action.
Special: If you have BAB +4 or 5+ ranks in Sleight of Hand, you can also sheathe a light weapon as a free action. With BAB +8 or 10+ ranks in Sleight of Hand, you can sheathe any weapon as a free action.
