R&C Human Resiliency = Better Saving Throws?

The rule is actually 10+.

I believe per the minis handbook: 1-9 and you fail to shake off the ongoing effect. 10-19 and you shake off one effect. Natural 20 and you shake off all effects at once.

An interesting similarity to the suggested rules for recovering when dying, no? :)

Yeah! I'm pretty sure at this point that this will be the new saving throw mechanic for the game.

I'm going to have to stop referring to Fort, Ref, and Will as "saves". Its just confusing. They are now "Defenses" (as opposed to AC which is still AC). :)

Oh, good catch! I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it, it seems screamingly obvious.

Considering it's as powerful as it is, combined with taking a Second Wind as a minor action, do you think humans are still going to have a free extra feat and trained skill?

Yes, new rules for Saving Throws in DDM 2.0

Unmodififed d20:

1-9 effect continues.

10 -19 effect ends.

20 effect ends, along with any other effects that allow a save.

So this is where the Pit Fiend's +2 Saving Throws comes in.

Yes, I posted this observation way back on page 1 of the Pit Fiend thread! Only a couple of people noticed. :(

Considering that the Pit Fiend, an epic devil, has only a +2 to saves, I find it unlikely that a base player race would get any bonus to saves at all. At least not as a starting racial power. This may be a human racial feat that you can take at Paragon or Epic teir.

I imagine the base racial power for humans will be the minor action second wind. They'll probably still get an extra feat, because they are still the most flexible race. But that extra feat has less impact now that everybody gets way more feats than they ever did in 3.5. They'll probably also get an extra trained skill.

What I'd really like to know is what ability score bonuses, if any, the human gets.

It depends on how powerful they want to make the racial abilities. The Pit Fiend doesn't get the elves reroll one attack power either.

And now that feats seem to be generally weaker.

Actually, I get the impression they might be moving away from humans as the "most flexible" race, and instead giving humans an actual niche (dynamic, resilient, etc).

I would be a bit surprised if humans got specific attribute bonuses, though. I'm thinking since most races get +2 to 2 different attributes, humans will get +3 to one attribute of their choice. ("Humans tend to be more focused than many other races...")

Getting a 10% better chance (or even a 5% better chance) to throw off ANY ongoing effect in the game is vastly superior to being able to reroll one attack per encounter.

Dynamic and flexible are rather synonymous. IMO it would be kind of foolish to cram humans into just one niche, when real humans show an obvious ability to fill almost any niche imaginable.
