R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Dungannon said:
The man extends his hand for a more brotherly greeting, "Welcome home, Valan. And welcome to you as well, Gideon and Ragnikyr. My name is Donterrio. Stolid adventurers beset by bandits while pursuing a noble cause, you say? Well that is certainly something our faith can support. I think we may be able to help you out in your endeavors," and then a twinkle enters the clerics eye, "of course a suitable donation would make it easier for the elders to accept."

"Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way" Valan pauses "A suitable donation? Why, I believe we could afford to part with five gold a piece, or were you expecting something a bit more steep?" Valan smiles, fully expecting to haggle

"Come, Valan -- let's not insult the poor man. Surely ten gold each is more reasonable. Of course," Ragnikyr says as he rubs a gold piece, "it might be more interesting over a small wager. Double or nothing, on the flip of the coin, say?"

Cheers,
Roger

"I knew their was I reason I liked you"

"Well what do you say, a friendly wager?"

"A 'friendly wager' you say? Double or nothing on your offer? Hmm, there might be something to that. Okay, here is the proposal I will grant each of you a touch of light healing from our Lord Grendath right here and now. The flip of the coin will determine if you receive these blessings for free or if you will donate 20 gold each. We will use my coin." Donterrio produces a platinum disk roughly half again the size of a normal coin of the realm. On one side is the universal symbol of Grendath and on the other is inscribed "Fortune Favors The Fool".

OOC: Valan -- ha! I thought you might like that.

Dungannon -- Sounds good. Roll any die you might like -- I think we'll take the 'high' range of numbers (e.g., 11-20 on a d20. Or 2 on a d2.)

Cheers,
Roger

"Sure, If you allow my friend here to make the flip" motioning to Rag "Being preists of our lord, our luck tends to be better than others"

As the flip is being made "Just out of curiosity, where did you aquire such a coin? I like it."

Donterrio hands the coin to Ragnikyr, "Sure, I have no problem with your friend doing the toss. But please be careful with that. It is the holy symbol used by those followers from this particular church."

Ragnikyr admires the coin briefly then, with a look to his friends, tosses it into the air. "Script," Donterrio calls as it arcs across. The bard deftly snatches it on the downward spiral then slaps it onto the pew next to him. He glances at the clerics, then quickly pulls his hand away. Everyone eagerly peers down to see the crossed fingers of the symbol revealed.

"Luck smiles on you all today," Donterrio comments as he picks up his coin. "Now if you will just follow me, we can go someplace a little more private for the bestowing of Grendath's blessings."

ooc: got a 4 on a d6

"Much more impressive that my own" Valan looks down to exime his own symbol "What would it take for an upgrade?"

"As it does everyday."

"Please, lead the way." Valan follows closly behind

Gideon rolls his eyes at such a display, but does appear pleased that they will not have to pay for this service.

When Donterrio prepares to cast a healing spell on him, Gideon will shake his head, saying, "My wounds were taken care of by Valan here, but perhaps Ragnykir could use more of your healing touch."

Donterrio leads you into a side room furnished with a handful of chairs around a circular table. As each of you pass through the door and by him, he touches you on the back and murmurs a prayer, except for Gideon, who claims not to need the healing. "As you wish, my friend, though I daresay Valan no longer needs Grendath's touch again."

Once everyone is seated around the table, Donterrio speaks up again. "Now, if you please, will you relate to me your tale again, with a little more in the way of details? You see, at this Roadhouse, as with most, we like to collect the songs and stories of the adventurers we minister to." The cleric then proceeds to take out a small sheaf of parchment and an inkwell and pen from a drawer under the table.

"I believe you mentioned something about being on your way to Ravensdale to investigate bandits?"
