Tor enters the common room of "Old Gertrude" and looks around. It's only midafternoon, but a few of the regulars are already heavily into their drink, including what appears to be a member or two of the city guard. The warrior approaches the bar and signals for the bartender, who promptly attends to the potential customer. A few basic queries reveals that rooms are readily available. Nothing fancy, but servicable and cheap. The cost is 5 silver a day, food and drink extra. Not committing to anything yet, Tor thanks the barkeep and leaves.
Tor then approaches "New Constantine" with the same intent. Walking through the front double-doors, Tor is immediately aware that this is your run-of-the-mill inn like the place across the street. He finds himself standing in a cozy foyer, well appointed and very neat. To the right, through an open doorway, he sees a dining area, with tables and chairs spread evenly throughout. To the left is a large desk with a well-groomed man standing behind it. In front is a double staircase leading up to what he presumes are the private rooms. Tor takes a breath and approaches the man behind the desk. The same routine questions inform him that this establishment prefers that reservations be made, but they just happen to have a couple of lesser rooms available for the night. The cost is 2 gold per room. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or, for an insigificant charge, they can be delivered to the private room. He advises Tor that if he plans on visiting the dining room then a bath and change of clothes might be in order. Tor thanks the haughty attendant and exits the establishment to rejoin Kerrz.
The fighter looks at his friend and asks, "So, which one we staying at?"
