R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Looking up at Valan's question, Gideon opens his mouth to speak, then seems lost in thought for a moment. Finally he says, "I no longer have a home, and I search for that which is lost. Though for the time being, this is exciting enough work." Gideon manages a slight smile to his two companions.

"Before that, north of Rivenblight. Just travelling, working as a freelance translator where I could."

"A much need profession in a world divided by race and language, so how many languages do you know?"

"You won't find a more exciting line of work, or a more stressful, or one with as many streaches of boredom"

After selling the gnoll's equipment, Tor will try to locate his companions. He'll head toward the inn first.
Finding a shop in the immediate area doesn't take long, you don't even have to go to the main merchant's quarter to the South. You manage to get 85 gold for the weapons and damaged armor, a fair price given the condition and previous ownership of the goods. Upon leaving the armory, you realize that neither you nor your companions have actually picked an inn to stay in yet. As you stand on the sidewalk near the East Gate where you came in, you see Kerrz return from the stable.

"The bill for the horse will be five silver a day, payable when we pick up BusterJack. Any idea where our companions went to?" Kerrz looks up and down the street then at the two inns near the gate.

Valan, Ragnikyr, and Gideon soon find themselves walking along a quiet street. The neighborhood appears to have a more residential feel, it's definitely better kept than the merchant's quarter they just left. The path they are taking soon intersects with a giant paved road. A nearby sign indicates this is Temple Street, a main thoroughfare that runs from the center of town to the North Gate. The people seen about are mostly priests and scholars, with an occasional city guardman or errand-running child.

Valan recognizes his god's temple about a block to the North, on the far side of the street. The trio give each other a look and then head off toward the building.

"Glorious! Gentlemen you are about to enter a house of Grendath, wipe your feet"

Feeling and looking invigorated Valan will boldly stride throught he door, greeting anyone who he can."Evening, fellow followers of Grendath" spoken in a tone of a man coming home

The church is almost empty, a couple of people sit alone and apparently lost in thought in the pews and a handful of clerics mill about doing mundane tasks. One of the attending clerics approaches you, "Luck to you, adventurers. What brings you to our house?"

"Hello sir/ma'am, I am Valan Ceth, Cleric of Grendath, and these are my allies Gideon and Ragnikyr." Gesturing where appropriate "We are traveling towards the Rivensdale area to investigate the recent bandit attacks on merchant wagons. As luck would have it, on the way here we were set upon by another group of bandits in our sleep. Through fierce battle we won, but suffered some severe wounds" Valan gestures to the various blood stain garments of the group "I used what blessings of Grendath I could, but as you can see, my abilities fall tragically short" so in conclusion "Any aid that you could offer would by much help"

The man extends his hand for a more brotherly greeting, "Welcome home, Valan. And welcome to you as well, Gideon and Ragnikyr. My name is Donterrio. Stolid adventurers beset by bandits while pursuing a noble cause, you say? Well that is certainly something our faith can support. I think we may be able to help you out in your endeavors," and then a twinkle enters the clerics eye, "of course a suitable donation would make it easier for the elders to accept."
