Race for a Beguiler

Hey all, apart from the Elf and Human, what is the race that you recommend for a Beguiler? I'm looking for something not in the PHB.

Changeling (from Eberron or MM3.)
Half-human (from the DMG.)
Spellscales (from Races of the Dragon.)

Gnome. In Eberron, I'd say beguiler would be the favored class for gnomes.

Half elf for an investigator. Social skills is plan A, and the spells are plan B.

But I would choose Elf for a dungeoncrawl. Max out Search and find every secret door you walk by and every trap you look for.

 

[Gnome]

Gnome for the CON bonus and bonus to save DCs on illusions. Whisper Gnomes would be even better. Halflings would be good as well for the DEX and skill bonuses.

Illusion focused: Gnome.

Sneaky infiltrator: Human or changeling. I think a human is better, since a human beguiler can easily emulate a changeling through use of disguise self spell (though technically it does stack with the changeling's minor shapechange ability to get you a +20 to disguise!).

If you plan on using disguise, it's best to be Medium sized, as most people in the world are that size; a gnomes are basically limited to disguising themselves as gnomes, halflings, short dwarves, kobolds, goblins, or children of Medium-sized races.

Enchanter: Half-fiend-half-dragon-fey-touched-illithid.

I think that I'm going to go for the Whisper Gnome so far...seems interesting for the role I wanna play

As for the Half-fiend-half-dragon-fey-touched-illithid. Well, lets just say that first off, I don't know DND to know if thats a real one or not, and second off..well.......I would love it..but i don't think my other players/dms would allow it...although I will present it ...lol!!

Heh, I was just joking. Every time I see posts about "what race would be good for an (insert class here)" someone always says, with complete sincerity, something like "Be a beholder! Be a troll! Be an (insert powerful monster here that most DMs would never allow as a PC)!"

For me, when someone asks for race advice, I assume it means core race or at most LA +0 races from the Monster Manual or other WotC book (goblin, changeling, warforged, etc.)

I figured it was a joke, and either way i'll present it as a joke aswell I was looking for a race thats not nessecarily a core race, although that has been published in a hardcover D&D book that can be used in Forgotten Realm. And yes, LA +0 is what I was looking for. So far the Whisper Gnome looks like the best bet...although a more natural choice I think would be an Elf (Tired of always playing a human)..but the elf may be too fragile at the begining...I like the + to Con.
