This is what made Races of Eberron the most useful of the series, in my opinion. It replaced the urgent need I felt for a book covering the evil humanoids.

I still want that book, though, and a Races book for the races in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. I want both books very, very badly. Do you hear me, Wizards? Gimme! ;)

Me thinks the Races books didn't sell very well so this is a way to encourage sales. I know I didn't buy any of 'em. Very bleh, IMHO. ;)
So the Core books didn't sell well? Because those have been collected the same way...

But in both cases the high price is quite the key, and the reason why I don't understand.

Why does a parent spend 90$ on a present if they are undecided? Why should I spend 90$ at once if I can instead buy the books one by one and see if I like them?

Heh no problem anyway, if you people like this format, I'm not against it :p I'm just saying that it attracts me less than the separate books.

$90 seems expensive for us older table top gamers. But it is still cheaper than buying a new game console (like PS 2 or Nintendo Game Cube) or portable game console (like PSP or Nintendo DS) as a holiday gift.

Similar but different. The Core books had their peak of sales and are now in a valley. Thus, the promotion of a three-book set to rekindle sales. Same idea.

Except that the box set for the Core books was out only a few months after the 3.5 books were released. It wasn't something that they've just recently done.

I'd say its impossible to tell how the box set features into the sales figures. Obviously, its designed to rekindle the sales of whatever books are being collected, but that doesn't mean they didn't sell well in the first place.
