Rami does it?

I would not. The first book is pretty good, probably worth a read. But after that it's downhill.

I'm pretty sure I stopped liking the books after Goodkind's disturbingly vivid description of... ahem... barbed demon phallus.

WOW - I did not make it much past the 2nd book (WFR was pretty good IMHO) - and now I'm glad I didn't...

I can´t remember any such description. Which book and context?

It's been awhile since I've read it, but I thought it was in the second book. A group of the evil magic-using women (don't remember the name) was screwing some demonic creature in order to gain more power or something. It was rather disturbing and not in a good way.

Regardless, of who produces it, this is good news. Ever since Charmed and Dresden Files went off the air the occult fandom has been needing a show to sate our hunger. :]

It's definitely the second book as that scene is forever burned into my poor, innocent mind.

As for whether the series is worth reading, the first book is okay in a stock fantasy kind of way. It doesn't do much new and it doesn't do much good (it also doesn't do much bad either). After the first book, it rapidly devolves into a "rip off Robert Jordan/Make stuff up and retconn it into the world" schtick.

Goodkind also tries to inject some of his personal "politics" into the story later on, but I quit at about that time because the story was becoming monumentally bad. Plus, it's not really an appropriate topic for this forum. :)

Overall, I'd say skip it and read something else better, unless you happen to enjoy barbed-demon phalluses, chickens-that-are-not-chickens-but-evil-made-manifest, or S&M stuff. :)

RE: the TV Series...
It has a chance of being good, if they deviate from the books enough, IMO.

It might be funny in a trainwreck kind of way too, so either way, win-win! :)

Supernatural is still on, and in my opinion gets better with age rather than worse.

Reaper and Pushing Daisies also have some occult and supernatural undertones.

Hey, I liked that chicken! Scared my wife half to death making the evil chicken sound... ;)

The books are definitely an acquired taste, and I spent a lot of time skimming past things I didn't care for. Kinda how I use TiVo to watch movies. I don't disagree with most of what's been said here, however. Good 1 was fun (and I liked book 5 with the evil-chicken and best bad guy revenge ever).

No doubt the first book was the best... the other books touch on a few controversal issues... one of my favorite aspects was the detached nature of the gods. There is the Creator (Good) and the Keeper (Evil)... however, the gods' will is unknown throughout the series. People do all kinds of acts in the names of their faiths but there is no direct proof throughout the series that either exists or cares for the mortals. The series really touches on human nature and what we would do if allowed.

I always thought that Heather Ledge would be an awesome Richard Rahl...but that won´t happen.
So, who would be the ultimate Mother Confessor Kahlan Amnell, the one and only Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, wizard of the First Order?
