I'm not sanguine that is correct. I believe that if you are in difficult terrian and are moving to open terrain, it still takes 10' step. I recall reading a rule(ing) that you take the worst of the two squares when moving from one to the next. Unfortunatly I haven't located where I have seen this.

Edit: I might have been halucinating, the previous discussion pointed the same thing out and it went uncontested.

I believe the part you were reading was if you cover 2 squares *ie are larger than medium sized* you take the worst of the two you are in.

Yes, that is what I was thinking of. So the defensive sweep would be mostly annoying making opponents 5' step away from (but not around) the Knight.
