D&D 5E Ranger archetype

I was wondering if someone has came up with a ranger archetype that is similar to a Magic Archer, or even arrows that can be explained in D&D terms with my DM. As a Ranger in a campaign, I'm looking to maximize my usefulness with various arrows for various situations. I have harpoon arrows, fire arrows, and acid arrows. Any help would be great, thanks.

I believe the "arcane archer" from previous editions is intended to be folded into the Eldritch Knight path for fighters. I haven't seen a ranger-based version, but I'll keep an eye out.

How closely have you examined the ranger spell list? There are several spells that add magical effects to arrows. In many cases, they could be reflavored slightly if they aren't exactly the damage types you wanted.

I'm not sure what you intend to do with your harpoon arrow, but maybe you could take a level of druid (or the Spell Sniper feat) to get the vine whip cantrip? (I may be misremembering the name.)

Yeah, like so many Ranger builds, the magical archer is there, they just put the options in the spell list instead of as a subclass.

I am not sure they made the right call with this one. It does seem that the Ranger class confuses a lot of folks in terms of what its focus actually is in this edition. I don't think this will be an issue so much a year from now when people see how it works in actual play and can grok what they were going for first hand though.
