Ranger Paragon Path Arbitrariness

So...

The choice of a ranger fighting style doesn't dictate the types of powers you take. It is perfectly feasible to take the two-weapon combat style and focus on ranged combat powers. You can even pick up the Defensive Mobility feat - so you'll be functionally equivalent to a Ranger with the Archer fighting style.

Unfortunately, the Paragon Paths each have one of the fighting styles as a prerequisite. This seems unnecessarily restrictive to me. Am I missing something?

Note that the Ranger paragon paths are exceedingly awesome. There are a few other classes with similar restrictions on their paragon paths as well (Warlord, Warlock for two).

Well, I'm thinking the designers want you to take the archer style if you want to be an archer. I wouldn't be surprised if there are feats in upcoming splatbooks (like the martial one) with style-specific feats and powers for rangers, so this might be a way of "keeping you honest" even though the immediate difference between the two styles isn't obvious.

I'm strongly considering removing the fighting style restriction from the paragon paths; I'd like all my paragon paths to be pretty open.

The same sort of thing could be achieved by moving the ranger's two-weapon fighting class ability to a feat, then hinging the paragon paths off of the feat and quarry

Keep in mind that this will more or less mean that all your ranger characters will be getting TWF style.

The archer paragon paths are, at least barring splat books, the main reason rangers take archery style.
