I am guessing the final price for the full .pdf is going to be around $45, but that is a guess right now and dependant on Bill and Clark discussing it. That is still (probably) high enough to piss people here off, but lower than what it presently is.
Just my two coppers (again), but as I said in an eariler post, a drop of $10 - $15 is reasonable. Give it to me for $45 and I'll certainly consider it--although $40 was a lot more what I was shooting for. And I'm not saying I hate NG or anything remotely like that...I'm just not willing to shell out $50 for a PDF to any publisher (with the exception of Pagan Publishing--if their back catalogue came out in PDF form, I'd be in the poorhouse). I set my "ceiling" at $45 knowing that RA:RE was going to be cool, have 3.5 content, be updated, etc etc.

Cripes, I'll likely *still* get the PDF since I don't want to write notes in a nice, limited edition book. Printing individual pages of a PDF to DM the adventure is areally handy feature, and why I'll buy adventure PDFs whenever possible from now on.

(Having said all that, I actually found the book online & attempted to order it while tying this post. We'll see if I get it.)

Uh wow. That's just f****** assinine. If for nothing else DTRPG doesn't get my business just because of the prices of the pdfs. If they were priced decently, like even $30 for GoT for instance, I would consider it. But $99 for an e-book is just plain stupid.

DTRPG does not set the prices. The individual publishers set their own prices. You will find that many follow the policy of pricing the pdfs at or near the price of the actual books, and some do not.

For those who don't want to pay $50 for a PDF, pay $50 for the full thing. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1588467953/104-5830850-7351168?_encoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155

Yeah, before anyone bursts in and cries "But Amazon doesn't have it!", they are in the process of shipping my copy of me right now. :P It'll be here tomarrow or the day after.

Hmmmm, mine says "Shipping August 22nd" as an estimate. Which to me sounds like they are waiting for more copies. Still, worth a shot to see if they get any more.

Yes, and the GoT Deluxe edition wasn't actually meant to be sold online, it was placed there to give the people that got the book a free PDF -- so, if you got the book you got a coupon to buy the $90+ pdf for free. I recall the GoO guys saying that this was to detract the casual buyer from getting it and keeping the deluxe PDF for those that bought the book.

Even though I preorderd (still waiting for it to arrive) I tried getting one from Amazon too. It says "Shipping estimate: August 21, 2006".

We'll see if I actually get one.

The situation is almost exactly the same as RARe. That's why I used it as an example.

Kim, I didnt take your comment as a threat. Frankly, I just ignore the piracy issue. To me, it is the only thing you can do. People are going to pirate stuff regardless of price. I cant control it. So I should make clear that the idea of piracy has 0% impact on my product strategy or pricing. There is, literally, no other way I can see to do it. I dont buy the added incentive to hack theory. The same people will steal it and download it. It is what it is.

Clark

Having seen somebody pirate a $10 piece of software I can agree with this - pirates will pirate, and there is not much that will stop them. :(

Worse, fear of piracy does stop some publishers from making PDFs available for their products, or cause them to jack the price up so far that it encourages pirates, in this case I am talking about those vaccuum heads that like to brag about the cost of the stuff they have pirated... I used to have one as a roomie. I don't miss him, he is part of the reason that I have a knee jerk reaction to pircay, the other being an album that was made by some friends of mine that was available through PtP before they got their own copies - the person that they hired to burn the DAT to CD had put it up on his network.

*EDIT* Mind you, I don't like the price for RAR much either, but ce la vi. If I really wanted RA I would have bought the earlier versions...

Does anyone know anything about the status from FRPGames? I'm still waiting for the package to ship.
FWIW, I got an e-mail from FRPGames yesterday saying they shipped one to me.

With all the GenCon releases they're probably just wading through orders as fast as they can.
