So you're running a game one night and you search through your boxes of minis and you just can find what you need to represent the nexy horror the PCs com across. That is because you don't have the Flail Snail

You know, thinking about it, a flail snail seems like it would be an effective, if silly, adversary.

The shell would be tough and provide great protection, while the flails... flailing around would provide a decent offense.

Of course, it would be slow as... well, a snail, so it seems like it would work best as a guardian. Particularly in a long hallway...

It's barely any more silly-looking than many of the aberrations already in the various 3E monster manuals.

But the best thing about aberrations is altering them on the group. So you've fought a dozen relatively stationary flail snails in a couple different rooms when you get to a room with just 2 of them with different coloring, maybe slightly bigger than their fellows. The spring attacker jumps up hits one and springs back. On their init, frog-like legs drop out of the shell and the snails start doing great leaps, matching the spring attacker at his game. But they have a pounce ability so they attack with all their flails when they land. Fun stuff.
