*Shortly thereafter, Michael exits his paralysis.*

"Hmm, whoever is best at searching, our elf friend Almayce probably with his keen eyes, should check that door carefully for traps, but beyond that, we should continue as quickly as possible in case there are more Ghouls or Afflicted in here. It doesn't look like we're in much of a good condition for another fight."

Michael grumbles something mostly inaudible involving Fallon, sheep, and some activities priests aren't supposed to know about.
Then he pokes at the ghoul corpses cautiously. Are they wearing the remains of Fallonese uniforms?
That would explain the patrol...

Then he takes a deep breath, converts his Cause Fear to healing, and cures Hulgyr. A little.
Converted Cause Fear (1d8+3=6)

"Please try not to do that again."
 

*Michael finds that they do indeed seem to be wearing the ruined remains of Fallonese uniforms, though not armour of any kind or weapons, both of which are standard issue for Fallonese soldiers, though the undead seem to eschew them.*
 

Almayce converts Sound Burst to Cure Moderate Wounds and heals Hulgyr for 7 points, and then Command to Cure Light Wounds for 5 points. Almayce shrugs at his rather bad results.

"Sure, I can check the door, but I'm no expert with traps.", he says.

OOC: Take 20 at search for 26 total after we get there unless somebody objects.
 

*Almayce searches for traps, and the door looks clear of them. However, it is sealed. The locking mechanism looks like it used to be fairly sturdy, but it has since degraded. However, without someone trained to open locks, they'll need someone to break it down.*

(OOC: Hulgyr has 22 Strength currently, and it's a DC 25 Strength check, so he can bash it down if he takes 20)
 


*Hulgyr manages to bash down the large door in a great show of strength, revealing a large room within. As he is getting ready for the ultimate bash, Almayce hears a weird squishy sound from the east, but it doesn't seem to matter, as nothing comes of it. The revealed room leads way to a dais surrounded by a bright bluish sphere that is centred around a strange-looking emblem-bearing disk on the back wall.*

(OOC: Of note, taking 20 on Search and then Bash has taken 4 minutes, meaning all buffs are off)

"That's the source of the cursed power! The barrier must be weakening and releasing the evil. Hulgyr, do you think you could smash it as well? I've saved my only Bull's Strength for you to help."
 

Almayce casts Dancing Ligts (spheres) and sends the lights towards east (whereever it is).

Should he not immediately spot some horrifying monster of doom, he'll get Aglaia's attention. "It probably isn't wise to rush in. Let me check something first.", he says and casts Detect Magic, planning to investigate the room and the sphere, preferably from a safe distance.

"If there's more enemies, shouldn't we destroy their power source quickly? It might be that they sensed we were close and are descending on us now in huge numbers, but when the evil item is destroyed, they'll all disintegrate or turn back to normal and be saved. If anything, I think this means we need to be as fast as possible!"

*Aglaia casts Bull's Strength on Hulgyr anyway, raising his Strength to 26. He can also Rage when he's about to start making Strength checks to increase Strength to 30.*
 

Almayce shrugs. "Or they could have sensed that we are here, be on their way here right now, and not give a damn whether the source of evil is destroyed or not.", he notes.

"We won't really lose anything by hurrying though.", he continues and motions that Hulgyr is free to unleash his terror on the evil whatever.

Almayce will cast Detect Magic anyway and check the surroundings.

*Well, I probably won't. I wouldn't really bet on Hulgyr though...*, he mumbles inside his head.
