D&D 5E RAS's Maestro: Future products and a bit of a rant. (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT)

Oh I totally agree with you, im not a fan of either of them. When wizards did that whole spell plaque thing in 4th. Those two kinda joined forces and convinced wizards they could fix it. Hoestly it seems like they just brought all the old stuff back without really saying how.

WotC did most of the stuff. Yes, it's true that they discussed what to do with a few authors (and WotC decided to revert the Spellplague/end of 3e, as those events ended up not being really profitable) but I think that the decision to not invest in books or articles or short stories to provide an explanation to everything and everyone returning (except a genric ''the Sundering'') falls entirely on WotC. The novels produced for that event barely covered a narrow part of its consequences. Just to give a picture of how much influence Ed/RAS had in those changes, the ''Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide'' (the book that tells us what and who has come back) doesn't even have Ed's name on it, anywhere (except to give him credit for creating the setting).

Granted, if Ed says something about the FR, that's canon, but only as long as WotC doesn't decide to say ''LOL NO''.

The point of the entire fight was to send him back to the abyss so it would stop messing around the underdark. At some point in the book is even referenced that Lolth needed to change the abyss to her liking before the drow started sending the demon lords back.
