A day later, I still feel the same.

10

Now, mind you, I saw the Trilogy all at once which is the way the movie needs to be viewed to have full impact. I'm sure much of my emotion is attached to the entire experience, not just RotK. Seen alone it may loose some of it's luster, I'm not sure. But as the final chapter of nearly 11-hour film I have to say it was one of most special movie experiences in my short life. That was one HELL of a great journey.

To any that for whatever reason can't share my feelings - I'm feel a little sorry for you. I hope some other film can or has in the past given you similar emotions. :)

I rated it a 7. I liked it. The Tolkien purist in me was disappointed at many of the changes, and it is still a very unsatisfying adaptation of Tolkien's work. Yet it is the greatest fantasy movie I've ever seen. The epic battle at the Pelennor fields is worth the price of admission alone.

Zulithe,

The fight wasn't in Shelob's lair in the book. Sam and Frodo both make it out of the lair. Gollum was supposed to attack Sam while Shelob went after Frodo. Gollum had a particular hatred of Sam and wanted to kill him personally.

Didn't like the change in that scene at the beginning, but it finished well. Frodo was a very wise person, he would have never sent Sam, his best friend, off alone to make his way home to Mordor because of the simple trick that Gollum did. I rolled my eyes at that change. PJ sometimes thinks he is too smart for his own good.

The Trilogy gets a big ten - completely surpassed Star Wars and Alien. The only thing i feel sad about is that i have to wait 12 months to see the extended version, which will fill the things i missed (which has been the case for the existing extended versions, so i have no doubt here).

Why sad? It just means that we still have something extra to look forward to. :D

I rated it a 10. RotK is just about as close as movies come to perfection. Peter Jackson has permanently raised the bar on multi-part motion picture epics.

Although, a part of me is sad. Once the Return of the King Extended Edition is released next year, there will be no more LotR movies to look forward to. :(

a 10. This is the archetypal movie experience; you are wowed, stunned, gripping the seat, and losing control of your emotions.

Masterpiece as a movie. As an adaption, strictly in terms of content it's a little lacking, in terms of thematic faithfulness I don't feel that way.
The pacing is also great. I wonder whether the EE might lessen the movie's impact, this time around?

But...

Not to take anything away from ROTK, it was an awesome, fantastic movie but, I have to say I enjoyed The Two Towers just a little bit more. That only means it's the second best movie ever. I can't imagine any one scene surpassing "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

Do you mean "Fellowship of the Ring"?
