Wolvie, to my knowledge, seldom uses his true berserker rage anymore.

When Wolverine goes all feral and animilastic, he is not using his berserker rage, just his animal like fury.

His true berserker rage goes beyond what most people can comprehend. His reaction time in a fight becomes nearly immearsurably small and his mind and body merge into one fighting machine. When his mind is in that state, his use of tactics is nigh flawless and he can execute and change them within seconds to perfectly match his opponent.

I find the different opinions interesting.

Capt America and Wolverine have fought many times, and it is always a standstill. To me that shows that Cap has the skill advantage, to make up for Wolverines enhanced abilties.

I did figure Spiderman would be on bottom skill wise, and I think most have put him there, but as someone else said, his powers are what makes him wipe the floor with the others.

So with the reference in mind that Cap is the "Ultimate Fighter", would you say that makes him level 20, or would you say he deserves epic levels?

I've been reading some X-Men stuff I've had recently...

Wolverine doesn't do much other than posture.

But I think that's changed since the 70's - early 80's.

I would not put Wolvie on top or near the top from a skill perspective because he doesn't NEED to be good.

He natural talents make up for a lot.

Wolverine enters most fights the way most gamers play their characters, with wild abandon. Mainly because he knows (liek the players do) that the healinf factor (read party cleric) will pull him through.

Incredibly tough opponent. Not the most skilled, IMO.

Cap's been fighting the good fight since WWII. And while he did spend a while locked up in ice, he's still fought more super-baddies than just about anyone. If there's anyone who is epic, it's Cap :)

1) Batman and Captain America- Both highly trained, very dedicated and driven men.
2) Wolverine
3) Daredevil
4) Spiderman- relies more on powers and learning from experience than any real systematic combat training.

1. Captain America--The Ultimate Fighter.
2. Batman/Daredevil--Daredevil's training with Stick is pretty close to Batman's training, although I'd give the edge to Batman since he's been doing it longer and he's a dirty fighter.
3. Wolverine--Has the skill, even if he doesn't use it.
4. Spiderman--No combat training to speak of--relies on his Spider Sense, fast reflexes, and myriad of other powers to compensate.

In terms of D&D levels / 4CTF.....

Captain America: Mostly Fighter levels, with some Paladin (minus the Lay on Hands, Cure Disease, and spellcasting ability) and some Hero levels. Total levels: 20, maybe Epic.

Batman: As per Ranger Wickett, and I'd put him at ~18th level.

Daredevil: A mix of Monk, Hero, Specialist, and Fighter (in order from highest to lowest) with the heaviest concentration on Monk by quite a large margin. Total levels: ~12.

Wolverine: A Barbarian-Fighter with Hero levels and a level or two of Frenzied Berserker PrC (MotW). Total levels: ~18.

Spiderman: A Specialist (Journalist, Scientist)-Hero with the highest amount of Hero levels of any of the discussed characters. Maybe with a level of Gadgeteer (Web shooters/fluid, tracers, spider-armour, etc). Total levels: ~18.

Three of the characters are roughly the same level, but I don't think they are at all equal. Spiderman and Batman are both more versatile than Wolverine, but neither of them could stand up to him if a sudden fight broke out. Batman and Spidey could probably escape (if they survive the initial attack), but would have to fight at range to have any chance otherwise.

Cap vs. Batman: Despite what Marvel vs. DC said, I think Cap would win. Especially The Ultimates version of Cap.
