D&D 5E Ray Winninger mentions third project!

WotC's Ray Winninger has confirmed that another D&D release, by James Wyatt, will be released in between Witchlight (September) and Strixhaven (November). Strixhaven was Amanda Hamon's project, while Witchlight is Chris Perkins'. That assumes he's not referring to the Feywild accessory kit in September.

A lot of people are asking Qs about the [D&D] releases for the rest of this year.

Yes, WILD BEYOND THE WITCHLIGHT is the [Chris Perkins] story product I referenced in our dev blog. STRIXHAVEN is [Amanda Hamon's] project. We have not yet announced [James Wyatt's] project, which releases between WITCHLIGHT and STRIXHAVEN.

Why did we announce STRIXHAVEN so early? Pretty simple--there was no way to release the STRIX-related Unearthed Arcana without letting the cat out of the bag.

You'll learn a lot more about all of these products at D&D Live on G4, July 16 and 17. And yes, there is still a little surprise or two ahead.

Concur. I'd like planejammer, but I expect a dragon book.

Also, if you want to start trying to trace negative space outlines... Witchlight is an adventure and Strixhaven is a setting, so it's likely the third book is neither of those. A dragon focused entry in the Volo's and Mordenkainen's line would fit that criteria.

Based on Wyatt being in charge I think Planescape is slightly more likely if it's not Planesjammer but yeah I agree.

Didn't Wyatt work on the Draconomicon?

Not sure about planescape. They released Ravnica, which from what I understand has some conceptual overlap with Sigil and I'm not sure they'll want to either a) go all in on great wheel cosmology based on alignment or b) go with a new cosmology and alienate current fans. Maybe a plane hopping adventure one day (a rewrite of dead gods or tales from the infinite staircase?). I could be projecting, as I love ps but can't imagine it without diterlizzi's art.

It can be about Innistrad, or a reboot of Council of Wyrms, based in Cris Perkins's Iomandra homebred setting. The dragon domains would be in the demiplane of Io's blood islands within the elemental limbo.

Planescape with any pieces of Spelljammer? Maybe.

Anything linked with Asian Cultures, now "Oriental Adventures" has became a politically incorrect name, but we could be something like an update of Kara-Tur, or its spiritual succesor.

They really do need an Asian Fantasy supplement. For a company that's ready to embrace diversity and abolish one-sided tropes and stereotypes and appeal to the massive and growing market, you'd figure they'd release a product for D&D to explore beyond the "Euro-fantasy" genre by now. I, for one, have long been ready for D&D to encompass fantasy, legends, myths, and stories from various cultures. Prime example is that "Coyote and Crow" RPG that's out there. It's more a sci-fantasy setting but something like that could be adapted to high fantasy (hint hint, WotC, your chance to give Maztica a makeover!)

I have feeling that they will announced that and/or Planescape for 2022 at D&D Celebration September 24-26th.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. Most folks were expecting the Wyatt book announced, hence why Ray had to clarify things on that.
