[RCFG] The Eyes of Mellythese (Playtest)

"Plamon, do you have a magic that can attach a rope to the ceiling? If not, I only see two options. Following the water way or testing the slippery of that slime. I would suggest the water, if you ask me."
John says to the others, pondering their options.

[MENTION=61463]Redbadge[/MENTION]: Some info for Palamon:

[sblock]We didn't determine what kind of horror you could summon, so by using a random method (rolled 1d8, reroll 8), I got "Camazhee" -- a creature appearing somewhat between a man and a bat, which can easily disappear into shadows, but dislikes light. It is stronger than a man, and could easily carry you upon its shoulders.[/sblock]

"For the mundane, sir, my power is not tapped. Nor am I eager to yet leave our vessel. My preference lies there, or there." I motion first to cave entrance behind us, and second, perhaps more eagerly, towards the watery passage ahead.

"And one final option does present, if but one of my comrades is willing to brave the depths." I raise the torch a bit over the water and try to observe anything beneath its surface.

RULES STUFF: Palamon has a Perception AS bonus of +3. By spending a little longer than normal, he can gain a bonus to this save. The usual rule is a +4 bonus from moving to a Free Reaction to a Reaction, and a +4 bonus for moving from a Reaction to an Action. Similarly, by spending time looking (rather than just spotting), Palamon can gain a +4 bonus. As Palamon's description implies more than a casual glance, he gets the bonus.

Perception saves, because they can convey information, are normally rolled in secret by the GM. In this case, though, I'll use the EN World die roller.

Looking downward is difficult. The sun hasn't hit the zenith yet, and so is not shining down the tunnel in the ceiling. Still, Palamon can make out anemones, a few bright flashes of some smallish fish, piles of rock, and even a hand-sized octopus that quickly glides away from the torchlight, changing colour as it does so. Off to the right, about halfway into the cave, crabs scuttle over the submerged bones and flesh of a half-eaten and decomposing dolphin.

The water seems to vary in depth from a shallow 5 ft where the tunnel collasped through the ceiling to perhaps as deep as 15 feet. No additional passage is obvious.

Palamon has found that it pays to observe as carefully as possible when the time and situation allow it. In this case specifically, his observation will not be found wanting, unless he his interrupted by his comrades or another occurrence.

I point out the dolphin to the others in the boat. "This animal here has been killed and half-eaten, and it appears not much long ago. Best not to take any dives after all, yes?" I smile.

"Ain't plannin' on it," Scarven says sarcastically. "Things tend to try and swallow me whole for no other reason than they be hungry."

OOC: Hi Redbadge don't think we have "met" - please call me HM.
:)

OOC2: Have off the next two days and will digest the rules prepare for comments and questions at the end of it. ;)

John

"Everyone fine with continuing on the water? Or does someone wants to risk a dive or balancing on slimy rock?"

If he gets no negative answer, John stirs the boat further through the cave.

OOC: Hi Redbadge don't think we have "met" either. - please call me WD. :)
