[Re-Recruiting] Pool of Radiance (CLOSED)

Thanee

First Post
Hiyas!

EDIT: Recruitment closed for now.

I'm looking for 1-2 new players to join the reconquering of Phlan.

The game is using the D&D 3.5 rules (with some house rules) and is set in the Forgotten Realms. The campaign is already running for some time (but it should be possible to get a decent overview when looking through the various information collected and posted in the campaign info thread).

The campaign is mission-based, so there are lots of small things to do all around the city, but there is also an overarching plot. The game is based on the old gold box computer game "Pool of Radiance".

There are two especially noteworthy things... the character sheets are not open, so you do not actually know the stats of the other characters, only the descriptions (means you will have to send me the details of your character via email), and we are using (slightly limited) Gestalt rules (you simultaneously level in two classes, but there is no multiclassing apart form attaining a prestige class, which in turn takes up both sides of the Gestalt).

For more information (actually it's quite a bit) best head over to the OOC thread, the most important things are explained in the first post there (especially in the various Spoiler-Blocks), including several links to everything else, including the aforementioned campaign info thread.

If you are interested, or if there are any questions just post here. :)

I'm quite interested! Give me a few hours to read up on the OOC thread and then I'll give you some specifics on character concept and build plans, but I think I'd like to toss my hat into the ring, as it were :).

Been looking to try gestalt for quite some time now... I'll read up on the OOC and then post a suggestion for a concept here.

EDIT: Looks very interesting, I like the concept with hidden sheets. Also, do you allow ToB? And I'm also interested in using PHB II a bit.

I know that I'd like to play a melee-type, though I don't know what kind yet. Probably human from the Sword Coast or from Thesk, depending on the concept.

A question of mechanics for my first character concept: are you allowing base classes from the PHB2? Specifically I was thinking of a Duskblade/Cleric of Azuth. If that doesn't work for you, I could alternately do it with a War Wizard/Paladin or a Hexblade/Cleric, but the Duskblade would be my first choice.

No problem with the Duskblade.

I'm afraid, I do not have the Tome of Battle myself. So got to say no to that one. PHB II is fine.

For the record, the current party consists of:

- Dwarf Paladin|Sorcerer
- Halfling Bard|Cleric
- Human Fighter|Wizard

And there is a Human Fighter|Ranger, but the player is AWOL and so he is currently NPC'ed by me and will leave the party soon (with the option of coming back at any time, though), if others are joining in.

Heh, no worries on the ToB, mixing that with Gestalt just seems like asking for trouble. I'm currently thinking Sun Elf for a race - if you're interested in the character I can send you a basic point-buy idea and you or I can roll for the 6 +1s.

One question on chargen: will be still be using the 600gp worth of equipment, or do we get a larger sum for joining at higher level?

Ah, I see that the group doesn't seem to have a sneaky sneaky character, which I like to play. What a coincidence :D

Thinking right now of a Rogue/Swashbuckler or Rogue/Fighter, don't know which one I prefer right now. If I understood the rules correctly, we can't multiclass between base classes, right?

Anyway, the character will be a human from Thesk. If you're interested, I'll send you some more info.

Equipment will be standard for 5th level, of course.

@drakir_nosslin: Yep, no multiclassing at all, except for one Prestige Class (if anyone wants to do that), which takes up both sides of the Gestalt.

Like this:

Rogue|Fighter
Rogue|Fighter
Rogue|Fighter
Rogue|Fighter
Rogue|Fighter
Prestige Class
Prestige Class
Prestige Class
Rogue|Fighter
Rogue|Fighter
Prestige Class
Prestige Class

Basically, the Gestalt rules replace multiclassing (the option for PrC was added in later, to allow a wider range of concepts to work with these rules). Also it keeps things reasonable.

Ok, how about you two send me an email, so we can continue with the details via that way...

Hey Drakir!

Did you get my e-mail reply? :)

Just checking, since with spam filters and whatnot, that might not always be the case, these days. ;)
