  • Pfah! We use our imagination.

I think most groups I have been in have used whatever was around. I use a lot of the pewter figures that I have had since I can remember, counters, plastic figs, and sometimes coins or other game pieces. And I am looking forward to the plastic minis so we don't have to use the goofy Mage Knight figs whose bases are just a little too big.

We use mintures for PC and important NPC that are reacuring.

Regular monsters and NPC's are counters, dice are anything else that handy.
Ditto here. (We exclusively use dice for grunts/monsters - they are numbered, and come in different colours in groups of six: white, red, green, blue. This helps speed combat along as the DM instantly knows which hp total goes with which monster/NPC.)

Only pewter minis when we game. I have been collecting and painting them for over 20 years, and have probably 8000 of them. So I have a mini for pretty much anything I want, and if I don't have it, I make it. :D

I use mini's for PC's and major NPC's. I use d6's for units - that way I can number them 1-6 and have multiple colors to represent multiple units (ie: the red dice are the three Giants, the blue dice are 6 ogres, the green dice are the other 6 ogres, etc) and glass beads to represent large numbers of small beasties like orcs or ghouls- especially if they're likely to take 1 hit and go down.

like most here my group uses pewter minis for characters, important BBEG's and the like. Otherwise we bust out the dice we use for shadowrun and proceed to have a small army of little square plastic men... with six eyes :p

This poll should be multi choice...

I use pewter minis, some painted, coins, dice and anything else. I'm looking forward to the plastics, and for some combat situations we use the imagination only.

It really depends.

ummm, well, yeah - painted metal only, BUT

I do sometimes have to substitute - a Dire Rat from a dire badger or whatever. It makes me cringe when I have to do it though.

I have a new rule in my game I love - if you summon it you better supply an appropriate figure or the spell fails!

I like polls that force choices BTW - people are surely choosing the thing they mostly do and for me that's more informative.

I'll also add that this poll really needs to be multiple choice.

We use a combination of everything: painted minis, unpainted minis, half-painted/primed minis, lots of counters, dice, and just about anything else thats around. As much as I'd like to just use minis, the counter collections are a great, cheap source of just about anything you could ask for.
