Real Life Stats

Personally, I always estimated my stats at:
Str 11, Dex 10, Con 14, Int 15, Wis 12, Cha 11

Yeah, strength can be estimated very easily. Instead of running, I used holding breath as an estimate of Constitution (and the fact that I rarely get ill and have recovered quickly from serious injury), I'm of average dexterity IMO. I always used IQ/10 to estimate INT, since a standard IQ test I took back in High School put me at 150, and I don't feel I would have an 18, but I feel comfortable calling myself a 15. I would say I used to have an average, 11 WIS, but after a few crises and travails in my life I'd say I've earned a point of wisdom (at 4th level ;) ), and an average or just a hair above average charisma.

Instead of a standard array, I'd say to give everybody a standard 25 point buy.

I need only look back at decisions I've made in my past to see that my Wis was a bit low (probably an 8). But I'm older now so I think I'm up to a 10. ;)

As for the Charisma thing, c'mon...it's ME! :D <--Note my dazzling smile!

He did wear a bright orange shirt to GenCon (Wis 5) but carried it off to some fame and wasn't roundly bashed for it (Cha 16).

I'm suggesting targets in ranges, not final judgements or numbers. ;)

The only problem is that not all of us can be represented by a default array. I've spent a year and a half tweaking and adjusting my ability scores and have finally settled on the following:
Str 10, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 18, Wis 15, Cha 15
That would be 2+10+5+16+8+8 for a total of 49 points! That's even more than a high-powered pt.-buy variant would get. So should I just play a "weaker" version of myself in a FANTASY game? Hell no!

For most of the people in our world, playing a character with 25 points spent would result in a "heroic" version of themselves, but remember that some people have higher stats.
I am just looking to make sure I understand you here...

Are you implying that most people in the world are "worth" less than 25 points such that they would be heroic if made on such a system, but that you are innately nearly double that "worth"?

Aw heck, I'm just a guy with 10,10,10,11,11,11.

Of course the fact that I'm a half-dragon half-ogre with a headband of intellect and a belt of giant strength means I'm better than all y'all.

Holla!

But we all can't be me.

It's almost enough to make you doubt his 15 Charisma, isn't it?! ;)

Hubris would mostly be wisdom, followed by intelligence, and then charisma. I mean... braggadocio is not really endearing.

Myself? Wisdom is my dump stat. A quick thought on how I'd plot out would probably be:
Str:11 Dex:10 Con:12 Int:18 Wis:6 Cha:16

I'm gonna justify the extreme values... Int 18, I went off the earlier poster that said 18 was 145+. I feel that to be a fair assessment, and I also am of the opinion that above 145 or so, variations in iq are generally meaningless. I have never been disappointed in the reasoning capability of someone up in that range, and have never been shocked by the astounding reasoning capability of someone up there either. Wis 6 - I've got bipolar disorder. Need I say more? Cha 16 - Everyone I meet remembers me. Probably the ratio of people remembering me to me remembering people is about 6:1. Also, I have this uncanny knack for getting people to do what I need. Teachers giving me make up tests, renewing my scholarship, getting my girlfriend to forgive me for things (like playing d&d :P) This isn't to say that I'm a god in social situations... oh no! That 6 wisdom can really f things up.

I think most Roleplayers exaggerate their "own stats"...I mean, we feel bad enough about having no social life, but to admit that we have a bad set of stats, that'd just be too much for most of us. ;)

If I was going to stat myself I'd say:

Str 10-13 (I can carry a lot, but am not a good jumper)
Dex 8-10 (I'm half-blind, but a good shooter with my glasses on, but except for a fairly good balance I look like a hippopotamus when trying to be graceful)
Con 7-13 (I can bike 50 miles without tiring much, but can't run more than 100 meters before needing a long break...)
Int 15+ (I usually "win" when playing games such as Trivial Pursuit or when watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire...and IF we should use the IQ/Bellcurve rules I'd figure around 17 or 18)
Wis 8-13 (I usually have a good intuition and my hearing is very good...on the other hand, I'm half-blind.)
Cha 8-13 (I have an easy time talking to most people, but difficulties scoring...now that I believe has as much to do with appearances [roleplayers aren't the fittest, handsomest people in the world, as a rule] and I don't know if that would eqqual Charisma...on the other hand I can be a pain when I feel wronged...)

See... that's funny... I can hold my breath for 3+ minutes, but I get sick like once a month.
