D&D 5E Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

So basically, you *want* to feel like WotC was thumbing you in the eye while they were developing 4E, and it doesn't matter what anyone's individual intentions were. You need to feel like you were deliberately kicked in the shins by WotC because... you do.
LOL! You're funny. Ridiculus and say stuff I never said, but funny.

For some reason. Regardless of how stupid it sounds to say that WotC began their design and development with the *intention* of making sure a good number of their customers wouldn't play it.
Heh. It is something you invented, not something I said. What is it with these boards and strawmen anyway? If the best you can do is make stuff up cause you can't find a rebuttle to what I said, this conversation isn't going anywhere. If you want to show me that 4e wasn't a divorce from previous mechanics, fluff and traditions, please go ahead.

As to "esprit de corps",...
Those people stood in line at Gencon because they were thrilled to have a game they wanted to play.
They were not playing 4E.
They were not playing GURPS.
They were not playing Heroes.
There were hundreds of game they were not playing.

Love of PF was not about sticking it to a game they didn't like, it was about a game system they loved being actively supported.
Edition waring has NOTHING to do with that.
the playtest and build-up of community did, sure.
the love of 3.5 / PF was about people really liking the system. period.
.

The point of Pathfinder was to make money for Paizo. Paizo couldn't produce the mags anymore and they had to find a new source revenues or bust.

That is marketing. To appeal to people who still wanted to play 3.5/didn't like 4e.

I enjoy the material.
Which is why I was subscribed to their adventure path well before the Pathfinder rules were announced.
I am on record, in the very thread in which Paizo asked their customers which way they should go, saying that I would go where they went because I liked their adventures.
I do believe that Paizo is on record as saying they wanted to continue telling the type of stories they enjoyed telling and that their customers enjoyed buying. It has nothing to do with validation or "esprit de corps."
I want to congratulate you on sticking to what you liked about the pre-RPG Pathfinder line in your spirited defense, Witch: you managed to avoid pointing to examples of validation to prove you didn't want/need validation.

As far as I am concerned, the whole collectible random minis thing sucks. Back in the day, Grenadier sold the official line of AD&D miniatures in non-randomized boxed sets with a theme (e.g., Wizards, Fighters, Specialists, Hirelings Wizard's Room, Denizens, Dwarves, Females, Dragon's Lair, Orc's Lair, etc.).

Unless there's some specific reason why they have to have "Official D&D Miniatures" written on them, there's hundreds of companies making minis now that fit that criteria equally well. And that does include people making some things which are so close to being D&D monsters (though of course the Ball of Eyes monster absolutely isn't a BEholder rip-off, no sir Mr Judge) that you can pick those up.

I stopped buying back during 1e or early 2e. I was just commenting on collectible minis in general as some of my friends were buying them back in 3e in hope of collecting them all and then complaining about them being random.

I'm not sure why you quoted me in your response to Wicht.

And congratulations to you in managing to avoid any form of rebuttal

Hard to imagine 660 posts on a topic supposedly about interest waning.

But really, I just wanted to say yeah, GunnerKrigg Court is great. I've bought several copies for young adults I know.
