Quick note: Insubstantial isn't phasing. Insubstantial is more like misty, but will bounce of something actually solid.

Where is "Phasing" explained? We've scoured the PHB's and DMG's... so I bet it's in the MM2 or MM3. But I never remember to look in those books when I'm at the right person's house. [/-]

Edit: Yeah, MM2.
When phasing, you can move through things and creatures and ignore difficult terrain but can't end your move inside of something.

Huh, yeah, I knew that and yet for some reason I thought the power was phasing. Well, darnit, that just makes a piss-weak class, even piss-weaker :D

I was thinking about the Fighter/Sorcerer combo a little more, and I think it could actually be pretty brutal with the right set up. Instead of doing a hybrid, you could start as a Fighter and MC into Sorcerer. This would give you the ability to mark foes from range with some of the Sorc powers you would pick up. Choose Marked Scourge as a feat, and now you're dealing extra damage on any foe you have marked; this would help you produce more striker-like damage figures without needing to hybrid.

This would require investing more feats into MCing than what some people like, but I think it has some potential to be a unique character while also being playable. Not necessarily something I'd recommend for Char Op, but I think it's a workable concept. With Strength and Charisma being your two most needed stats, Dragonborn would probably be a natural choice. However, Half-Elf would also probably be workable, and it would give you the option to use Versatile Master to open up your ability to power swap more.

Again, I understand that this is not the most uber optimized idea ever. I just think it would be an interested character which is also playable.
