[Recruitment/Discussion] Serial Superheroes Game

I just noticed this recruitment thread today, and I have to say I really dig on the idea there. So, question is, you still open to some more players?

If so, I have what I think is a pretty neat idea, though it won't sound neat at first. What I have in mind is a fellow called the "Dust Devil", who's basically a walking, talking mound of dirt. Human-looking, mind you, but still made up of dirt, dust, sand, etc. I think that could have all kinds of neat possibilities, whether they be sneaky (being able to change appearance), defensive (getting shot in the head doesn't mean much when you don't technically have a brain; also, imagine falling off a thirty story building only to explode in a big cloud of dust on impact... and reforming a short while later, none the worse for wear), offensive (blowing some of your dust into an opponent's face, which then solidifies after they breathe it, or maybe even being able to shape weapons out of limbs), or just plain weird ("losing weight" to make little self-replicas that live a short while on their own before collapsing).

Well, that's my idea, at least. So how about it?

I'll be gone for a few days, be back on Thursday. I'll probably have enough time to finish the Dragon Keeper before I have to go again after the weekend.

Well I'm pretty snowed under with exams approaching, so if I get left behind with character creation no worries, I'll gracefully bow out, but if time permits I'll get a prototype level progression thingy up eventually.

If you don't mind a newbee in the group I had an idea for a girl with some kind of super-sight (leveling up to the ability to see in IR and X-ray vision). She'd most likely be a fast hero on the gunslinger track.

Festy: I'm in the same spot at the moment, so I doubt you'll get left behind. While I'm with GWolf a little on wanting to get started as soon as possible, I also understand that this requires a bit more player prep than your standard game. Also, I understand fully that real life sometimes doesn't give you the time you need to put together a post, so I have no problem if people need to disappear from time to time. It's a game, and the only responsibility I ask is that you have the courtesy to give as much warning as you can.

On that note, I may be off for a week or so starting this Saturday -- I'm moving into a new apartment, and it may be a while before we can get an internet hookup. I'll try to be around to post when I can...

At any rate, Mickerus and Tanstaafl, both your proposals sound good. The particle abilities sound good and flexible -- write up some general guidelines for saving throw DCs and damage dealt, and model the damage-absorption abilities (I'd say Regeneration progression, starting at 1 and going up every odd level)... And Tanstaafl, I've always had a soft spot for gunslingers -- just keep in mind in making your class that it should be fairly strictly related to your specific power (the super-sight), which can complement gunslinger abilities (through Fast Hero -> gunslinger) but shouldn't actually include the abilities themselves.

Megan Williams was very ill as a teen-ager (still thinking about this, perhaps a severe fever of some sort) when she recovered, she began to notice that instead of deteriorating - as her physician had warned her was possible - her eyesight was much improved.

She has a relatively innoculous background, her father is a police officer and her mother a homemaker. She grew up in a suburban area in the mid-west.

Her father was killed while on duty and Megan began to think of avenging his death by joining the law-enforcement community. Disillusionment with the corruption of the system lead her to look outside of the established legal system for ways to use her gifts...

I used the fast hero template to design the Super-Sight class & if the characters progress to a high enough level she'll take a few levels of Gunslinger.

If no one else wants it, I'd be interested & willing to take on the leadership roll.

Be my guest. I don't see Matt as being the leader type, as he is somewhat reclusive and withdrawn. He'd also have no trouble in being told what to do by a girl. ;)

GuiltPuppy, I'll probably finnish the Dragon Keeper now that I've the time. After the weekend I'll be away for a whole week, so don't expect me to reply.

There, finnished the Dragon Keeper. If you still think that it needs some changes, I've still got a few ideas up my sleeves.

That's fortunate... but watch out; if you call Megan a 'girl' to her face I won't be held responsible for what happens! ;)

As to a Super Hero name, I can't come up with anything cool... maybe Hawkeye, The Gaze, or Vista. Opinions & ideas welcome.
