[Recruitment/Discussion] Serial Superheroes Game

Just to make assurances, I haven't ditched or anything. I'll probably have something tentative this weekend, assuming I don't put in some overtime...

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates but move/finals was a bit more trying that I accepted... At any rate, Megan can go ahead and take the leadership role -- sounds like she'll be an interesting character for it.

Yes, still in the "progressions" stage, although those who've had it approved can proceed with write-ups. It will be a few weeks before the game starts, in any case -- real life and schtuff.

You're telling me. I just got back from a confirmation camp, and I'm completely wasted... I need to get some sleep.

Should I work up stats for Megan or do you want me to make changes to the Super-Sight progression (I still can't think of anything to throw into the one spot that I left as a Feat)?

Also, in keeping with the serial nature of the game, I've got an idea for a pyrotechnic of some sort as my next character (just re-read S. King's Firestarter and M. Lackey's Brightly Burning & now I'd like to play with fire - probably not what they were aiming for when they wrote those;) ).

Tanstaafl: You can throw on a bonus to Ranged Attacks along with the Search/Spot bonus -- it make sense. As for the Bonus Feat slot, how about move all the others up earlier (she's in need of a power boost compared to the others, I'd say), and then have the telescopic sight increase even more at tenth level? (and have the effects of the original become, at that point, constant -- minus the lack of peripheral vision)

I could see merging that, the X-Ray vision, and a few ranks in knowledge (chemistry) to, for instance, examine the chemical composition of a found materal... Or what have you :) Seems to be a logical progression, and it's the best I could come up with off the top of my head, but if you have a better idea, go for it. (Otherwise, you can take my suggestions as is and start statting.)

psychognome: Regarding the latest Dragon Keeper, still would like to see something replace the bonus feats (all though the rest of it looks just fine...) Perhaps a partial manifestation ability (not costing an action point, but still somehow limited -- maybe requiring a full round of concentration first) where the dragon is semi-incorporeal (functions normally, but deals one-quarter its normal damage, and has limited interaction with the physical world -- can push a cup off a table, but can't pick it up.) ...let's say requiring four hours of rest before it (or the other!) manifestation can be used again. Then, perhaps an emergency manifestation ability at eighth level, which deals 2d6 points of temporary intelligence damage in lieu of the action point cost (with the caveat that it fails if the int loss drops you to 0)... You know, for the dramatic self-sacrificing situations :)

Again, those two changes would be enough for me to give you the go-ahead to start statting -- but if you're not satisfied, feel free to do something else, or something a little different, and we'll look at it again from there.

(Actually, I'd in general allow this sort of ability to be used even if not written in... But I'd probably make the risks much higher than 2d6 of the primary stat, and oh yes, there would always be a chance of death instead of just unconsciousness :) )

GWolf: You still around? If it wasn't clear, your char is definitely ready to have a sheet made -- I think I've given you all the info you need for that.

...

So anyway, that makes three characters who are close to par, with ideas from Mickerus and Festy_Dog still lacking progressions. Once we have three characters (and I'm back from vacation -- around June 30) we should be able to start -- the others can join in later, if they're not ready by then (I'm eager to get this started... it's already running the high risk of becoming the sort of game that flounders before ever starting because of too much time spent on character creation)...

Sounds good to me. What sort of a bonus to ranged attacks, maybe +1 per at first, +2 at 3rd, +3 at 5th... I can't believe I'm actually adding power to a designed class!

Sure, I'll just make these changes and start statting Matt. What ability score generation system do I use?
