D&D 5E Removing Subraces as a Power Up

I'm trying to simplify some of my world/campaign's house rules. I had a lot of legacy-leaning 1/2e things (like racial minuses).

I'm now leaning towards the 5e theory that races should have bonuses, not negatives. I want to lean into the idea that the PCs are heroes.

My theory in the second campaign in this world is that every character gets all benefits of their subraces as well as a racial (Xanathar's) or skill (UA) Feat. All races also get a bonus cantrip learned.

For humans I would allow both full feat selection and the bonus racial/skill feat.

Goliaths and goblinoids have key roles in my world. Are any ideas of how to give them roughly equal power ups.

what place do Goliaths and goblins have in the world?

If Goliaths are still high mountain dwellers, I’d consider something like increased jump distance, increased thrown weapon range, proficiency with improvised thrown weapons, and resistance to cold damage. Also high mountain adaptations are oddly similar to coastal nomad adaptations to being underwater a lot, because the air is so thin. I’m sure something in the order of adv against gas based effects and con saves from holding their breath wouldn’t be too powerful, since they’d come up fairly infrequently.

Goblins...really depends on how you use them.

The Goblins are a smog-tek society -- think Tinker Gnomes meet DaVinci meets dirty coal. Their main society is a caste-based empire. I already give them the rock gnome feature.

Goliaths are a bit of a combination of goliaths/orcs. Not necessarily mountain dwellers, but they are denizens of the wild spaces, mostly. Their social structure is familial/tribal.

Give Goliaths pack tactics, or some other benefit for fighting near their allies?
