I want more words people will need to look up in the dictionary. Rogue is thus better than Thief, for my purposes. I would also like to see skill names like legerdemain and skullduggery. However, it's not like I hold out any realistic hope of that sort of thing being prominent in a WotC product.

But really, a name's a name. Rogue is more generic, imo. Thievery as a skill name is fine with me. Espionage, perhaps?
